    Electricity Interconnectors

Yes, one of the 4 units in Cruachan pumped hydro scheme is now contracted as inertia rather than generation. So rather than providing power, the turbine is powered to 600rpm.

    Stagecoach East Scotland

Makes you wonder who, and why, has cancelled their order. I wouldn't be surprised if Stagecoach had first refusal on them as a kind of apology for the late delivery of 9700DDs. Which has turned out to be very helpful given the late delivery of EVs from other manufacturers and the need to release...

TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

You'd have thought it would make sense to move the B5LHs over and concentrate all the Volvos at one depot....or are they collectively so bad that the pain needs to be shared between Queens Rd and Oldham?!

    Stagecoach East Scotland

I wouldn't say the internal cascades are in doubt, just delayed. Certainly the tone of the comms within East Scotland was that they'd only have cascaded vehicles temporarily until ADL could deliver their new, delayed EVs. You'd assume that once said EVs arrive, the MMCs will go back to West...

Going slightly off topic here, but the reason they were ordered was the nature of the route demanded something that could do more than 39mph flat out (an E40Hs top speed at the time). The 17-plate batch were a follow on for a frequency upgrade. There may also have been issues with E400H...

They're all still full hybrid. It defeats the (original) point if the 17-plate B5LHs are staying in Perth - the whole point was to remove a completely non-standard (outside of London) vehicle type from the Stagecoach group.

It is, 'working heritage' 47001 got a fresh coat of Beachball last year.

Possibly a bit of 2+2=5, but I wonder if the 59/60 E400City has become the 77 listed there for Stockport and the orders are one and the same? Would explain the choice of City body - I couldn't see Stagecoach voluntarily opting for that. Given there's 75 classic E400s currently at Stockport, I...

Little Hulton (Stagecoach Schools unit) now has an official allocation; 10401-11/13-22 25318/328-337 37146/8, 37150-66 Which means the only other YSB allocation is the 7 hybrid Versas at Oldham.

There's probably multiple parts to the cascade plan for these new E400Citys, but I was under the impression they'd initially be allowing 11504-29, 11254-71 to go to Queens Road as B9/Contingency fleet E400MMC replacements. With the latter then going to the "native" Stagecoach depots to allow...

Jesus wept, I remember why I post so little here now. FWIW, some sources have mentioned a quantity of 59, others have quoted a fleet number range of 11881-940, which I agree is 60. Once upon a time, people would have appreciated information being provided rather than picking it apart for not...

    59 by my maths, 11881-940.

It only applies to the native Stagecoach-owned fleet, not anything provided by TfGM - so excludes Scanias, B9TLs, B5LHs, ex-First E300s etc etc.

Makes sense, thanks for your info on this! Presumably the E400s will just be long-term temporary on schools - wasn't there a Stagecoach to have nothing older than '17' plate in Manchester when everything had settled? That may have changed in respect of TfGM owned stuff but may still be in play...

Is that implying that a deal has been struck to keep some of the new 'contingency' vehicles, and reduce the madness of 6month old vehicles being cascaded away and repainted? Or are these different types of previosuly un-noted (as far I know) orders - in which case an additional order makes sense?

Thanks all, makes sense now. Even if it's just 2 Bee E400s that have gone, it's still not good statistically when you think of all the hundreds of corporate E400s in Manchester! (Not for a minute suggesting that the colour of the paint had anything to do with it)

I thought that there were 4 in various stages of going yellow that were damaged in Hyde Rd paintshop? Nothing to do with the buses as you say.

Stagecoach don't seem to be having much luck with their older/Tranche 3 repaints going up in smoke...is that 5 E400s now that have burned/been smoked damaged after going yellow?

Indeed, ZEBRA has been more prescriptive with it's requirements. However, the ULEB funding looks to have been fairly open seemingly with the aim of just getting vehicles on the road. The notes to bidders are at...
