    School fire alarms

That was a smart idea in doing so. If a student did set-off the the fire alarm in front a member of staff, they get trouble right away. The fire alarm systems are linked to a fire station, arn't they?

    School fire alarms

Ahh, the very alarm you didn't like, the one that went "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!". Did you remember the pips or was that just used as a fire alarm? The pips are similar to a primary school not far from my day centre which can sometimes be heard when the window is open, but this would be a modern...

    New to BVE

Re-visited BVE 2 content recently by downloading content old websites from archive.org, though had to use OpenBVE as BVE 2 program does not work with Windows 10 I believe. I remember driving them 20 years ago. Driven some LU Lines and Sandymill Routes, before something even better came along...

    New ScotRail Train Announcements

I think AI voice is the way forward now and it would be sad to have Fletcher Mathers replaced with the new system, but you’ve got to remember we had that system for 20 years now. At least we Scots don’t have to listen to ATOS Anne here in Scotland, but you never know that can still come one...

SWR outgoing Metro fleet withdrawals (complete)

My mum had just texted me that vehicle 77818 (5903) has been sighted on the M8 Motorway near Kingston Bridge (Glasgow). It is heading eastbound, but not sure where it is off to.

    School fire alarms

Could that be the model of fire alarm? Link: Chloride Gent Warbler As an autistic child I hated fire alarms, the ones I had at one my Schools had a Gent 1500 siren (also known as the Strident) which is very loud. Some folk who went through the fire drill using the WW2 style siren will probably...

    Class 321 storage/scrapping

They were heavily just refurbished and indeed they did not last long. They should have not done the Renatus project in the first place in the five or so years prior to scrapping. Eversholt Rail has defo made an expensive mistake.

Electrical grid "crash", affecting multiple European countries

This could have happened back in July 2012, but narrowly missed Earth. This does remind what will happen should there be the Carrington Event in the future.

Electrical grid "crash", affecting multiple European countries

Parts of Spain now have their electricity back on, and just a few moments ago, there was a press conference from the Spanish PM about the mass electrical outage. Also just read that RENFE won't be resuming their trains for the remainder of today. Defo not a normal day for everyone in Spain and...

    Sunday trading laws discussion

Scotland is deregulated, whilst in England and Wales there is a STA 1994 regulation to force large shops to open no longer than six-hours between 10am and 6pm, and that is what Scots seem to forget. I'm from Scotland too and we have supermarkets that open 24/7 or 6am to Midnight, even on a...

    Sunday trading laws discussion

Or does the food court have to comply with the six-hour rule if they are in a shopping centre? I heard they cannot section-off a large shop when it comes to complying STA 1994. I know there is McDonalds inside some ASDA supermarkets, I seen some before.

GBRF confirms conversion of Class 56s to Class 69s

Not at the mo, but will be outshoped with the livery eventually. Might come out with usual GBRf livery with whiskers you know. As one had said earlier in this thread, there's only two more Class 69 to be converted and then that's your lot.

Trains getting their TOPS classification changed.

Class 325 was going to be Class 350 according to Wikipedia (not related to Desiro EMUs as it was in the 1990s of course). There was a proposed Class 300 classification for the units to be rebuilt from Class 307, but went for new-build Class 325 units instead.

Is there a link between incidents including fire near Heathrow and North sea ship collision?

This is now being investigated, but there is no indication of any foul play that has resulted in the closing Heathrow Airport. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvg5dg4p2l0o.amp There was also two fires near my bit last night, a fire in Kilpatrick Hills and another at Erskine, on the way...
