ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Do you know if the 4 car sets will also eventually be increased to 5 car, or will they remain 4 car?

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

It doesn’t seem worth making a whole thread for this, but if this is misplaced my apologies: How serious is it to have an electric train fall off the wires like this, atleast when moving under its own power like it was? It is more or less as simple as dragging it back under wires, and away you...

    Class 314 Withdrawals

Not that I want to drag this topic further away from 314s, but in the last few weeks, I noticed that the platform Polloksheilds East has been resurfaced at the "old" platform area, located behind the stairs and ticket office, which was at the very least unused, if not outright out of bounds. I...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Just passed 2 sets of new livery power cars at Haymarket depot, they look absolutely filthy so far. Huge streaks of dirt down the sides of them. Looks like Scotrail will need to up their train washing game for them!

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

Sitting on my very first 385 as I type this. A bit of an odd smell when you first walk in, but so far seems very nice. Sitting in front of a bit cupboard covered in electricity warning stickers, don’t recall seeing anything like that on any other EMU before? Overall though I’m impressed! The...

    Class 314 Withdrawals

Out of idle curiosity, why is it the the 314s received such limited (visible) refurbishment during their service? The 313s and 315s all seem to feature PIS, LED head/tail lamps, door operation buttons etc by now, (never mind the majority of the 314s still being in SPT colours!). Was it just...

    Best preserved *genuinely* disused station?

Strathpeffer station in the Highlands. The station building now contains shops and cafes, but the building and platforms remain https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strathpeffer_railway_station

    Class 314 Withdrawals

Yep. The one I saw going back and forth was even a 4 car, which I don’t recall seeing before on the circle line outside of Hampden events. Noticeably less 314s today. I’m interested to see what diagrams the 380s appear on tomorrow

    Class 314 Withdrawals

IIRC the 1737 Glasgow Central to Neilston is 6 car. Half the set failed 2 evenings ago and it had to depart as a 3 car. Some very squashed looking passengers that night!

    Class 314 Withdrawals

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a Scotrail train with graffiti anywhere on it (although I I’ve only recently started travelling on trains), but the last few weeks the 314s seem to be covered in hastily scrubbed off graffiti. A sad epilogue to 40 years of service I think

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

Saw a 385 in Glasgow Central this morning. Sitting in platform 12 at about 0920. There were maybe 3 or 4 members of staff inside at the front of it, sitting about chatting. Looks quite good I think!
