Driver training time Bakerloo v Victoria line

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but why do the Central and H&C lines require this? The others I know share tracks with NR

Aslef strikes over Trains Modernisation plan

And to a lot of people "Modernisation" is synonymous with "closure" or "reduction" thanks to the BR "modernisation" plans

    June 2024 Timetable Change

They do empty out significantly at Reading, but loadings seem okay at Southampton and the airport, though I guess they would end up running into the capacity issue at Southampton for reversal/turnaround

    Island Line Class 484 Reliability

*Facepalm* no of course it wouldn't, I always forget about Ryde tunnel

Southern timetable changes consultation Coastway West

That's the issue with Southampton, there's plenty of routes, competing operators, add freight too, and it's trying to do too much all at once. Sadly, some places therefore lose out

Had to break through unmanned barriers at Burgess hill tonight

GTR-land doesn't often make sense unfortunately... Worthing has a small gate line, almost always manned, but will spit out any open return I use to then be checked separately - the staff never check (I've tested, ensuring I have a valid ticket on me but showing them the "wrong" one, just to...

How to improve and increase capacity of the West Coastway line, including merging merging Sholing & Woolston stations?

You'd end up with more people cramming on to GWRs Portsmouth-Cardiff services, which certainly isn't ideal

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

Yes that's true. I'm sure it'll confuse some pax with different colour schemes though!

Southern timetable changes consultation Coastway West

Better connectivity across the Coastway, and with a same-platform interchange at Barnham for Gatwick/London. Imo it's a win

    Class 175 future speculation

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

Southerns own map of services shows Southampton/Brighton being 387s

    ORR P-Code data releases.

So long as the figure show "progress" that's all that matters! Reality doesn't come into it

    Island Line Class 484 Reliability

Likely a silly question (possibly belonging in speculation, so apologies) and no doubt very expensive... But couldn't they have ordered a few shortened S stock - or thinking ahead, a a shortened NTfL - sets to send over to the IoW instead of relying on rather old hand-me-downs?

Who needs the additional rolling stock more? Southern or Southeastern Railway.

I agree with everything you've said, until the "more punctual railway" bit - as much as this should be true, it doesn't yet seem/feel like that's the case imo. But as you say, "to the bone" is wrong. Down o nthe Westcoastway for example, they're running more services and utilising stock better...

TRIVIA: Examples of train refurbishments (past or present) that were a step up from the same train's previous interior

Have to agree here, the 455 refurb was excellent - my other half didn't believe me when I told her they were 40 years old!

Why not control future-build EMUs from the rear cab?

Captain Scarlet too - maybe rearwards driving is the only bit of the "imagined future" we'll end up getting! :p

    GWR Waterloo and Euston

I guess at least at Ealing its a relatively easy connection to Lizzie line or the tube for onward journeys - hopefully the journey planners will be set up in a way that doesn't overcrowd Euston (as we all know Euston has it's own issues at the mo)

    HS2 Old Oak Common

  I think Brunel would be 50/50 split on "oh, look at these wonderful 125mph+ trains" and "oh, dear god, what have they done to my railway"!

    New Clapham Junction Departure Boards

Would something like: 19:51 London Victoria (Southern Service // 4 cars) * Calling At: a,b,c Not work better? The operator/length is less important to most than the calling points - at least one would assume. Also the "via" should not scroll - Guildford via Wimbledon (eg) would surely fit...
