The journey planners use the concept of permitted routes from origin to the first boundary station. This gets a bit confused because they also use timetable links (like the walk between the two St Albans stations) which of course are not in the Routeing Guide (as that only uses national rail...
Euston barrier line can add 5 minutes to your journey if three am peak arrivals occur (which is fairly common). A nightmare for those exiting and those moving toward a departure. The best solution would be to widen the ramp (back to its original design) by removing the WH smiths and M&S simply...
The journey planners have always used NFM64 Fares in fares checking. The only change is that it is now explicit on the Routeing Guide web pages. See wording from the forums guide to Routeing:-
The whole point if the Routeing Guide was to preserve what existed in 1996. - not the routes of 1986, 2006 or 2016. Current fares would be best and I am sure TOCS and providers of Journey Planners would agree. All you need do is persuade DfT and Transport Focus who insist on the historic NFM64...
I think the journey planners abide by this. I would suggest that anything else is invalid, but maybe this wording is wrong!
The Routeing Guide contains many maps showing mapped routes between stations.
Because of the vast number of stations in the network, it is not possible to provide an...
The tool says Marylebone is not a valid destination routeing point and the only valid one is South Ruislip. It says Wokingham is a valid origin routeing point. But the fares check requires you to have both a valid origin and destination routeing point. I think that's why the journey planner is...
It depends on each employer. For example my rail employer has three rates of contributions into railway pension scheme. The highest is for people with indefisiable right to a pension as per the conditions pre 1994 that's 13 3/4% the new entrants are at 8% but they cannot get their pension until...
It's a good question. If tickets are for immediate travel that day excess them. If not hand them over and say they are not valid for travel if a valid railcard can not be produced
I am looking into moving half way between Brockenhurst and Salisbury. Am I right in thinking that as a result of these changes, there is now no annual season ticket that I can get that would allow me to go from London and choose either destination without paying an excess?
What about Dorchester...
The Advance part of the ticket you have to abide by is the train/seat reserved as part of your transaction. No reason why you cannot travel to Euston earlier - You just have to use the Virgin train you are reserved on.

I am sure you are right...
That's not how double backs work. Willesden Junction is a routeing point. I think journey planners provide an itinary either change at Milton Keynes or go to Euston as the condition of the route is met. Ie on VWC and then a connecting service. The route is only used on Advance fares as far as I...
