    Railway General Knowledge.

Early 1980s. 1983? My ex wife worked for Metro at the time and was on the reopenings project. She was always terrified of the local schoolchildren that got invited along getting overexcited and going under a passing train whilst waiting for the reopening train to turn up.

    £2783.00 fine from cross-county - advice needed

I think the OP can certainly ask (provided its phrased suitably) but I think the chances of ITAL agreeing it are very close to 0%, and I would bet on them coming back with a "sorry, Cross Country's policy is anytime singles" (ie hiding behind their client), "NCoT says anytime single" (ie hiding...

    £2783.00 fine from cross-county - advice needed

Can you work out where you were on that date? Receipts? Bank statements? Google? Photos? Calendar?

Fake name given to ticket inspectors

I'm sure the merits of appealing a PF on the basis that the OP has been undercharged have been discussed before, but I can't find any of the relevant threads. I recall it was thought to be unlikely to succeed

    £2783.00 fine from cross-county - advice needed

The other advantage of asking for the details of the journeys included in the settlement offer, and then potentially querying some of them, is that it should buy a bit of time for the OP to try and get the funds together

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

Retailer gross margin on clothing and footwear is normally between 40% and 60%, dependent on the brand and the relative strength of the retailer

    How to improve ticket machines

Out of interest what happens if Joe Public turns up at a station and there’s no ticket office but there is a ticket machine. It is card only but he intends paying by card. He tries to buy his ticket but it’s a Northern machine and as far as he can tell it requires him to create an itinerary...

    60087 - Wensleydale Railway

.....and it was still there yesterday, despite the car park having been cleared of all the Polar Express nonsense for a month now. Also still boxed in by other stock, and hasn't moved or been moved since it arrived

    How to improve ticket machines

Think there's a maths error here!! Things are not fifty times more expensive now than they were in 1984! According to the Bank of England website, £1 in 1984 is worth £3.30 today, so a ha'penny would be worth about 1.65 pence

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the secret sealed document and his arrest

Is that known? In the photos I’ve seen it’s all redacted?

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the secret sealed document and his arrest

Why? With hindsight the way she treated him makes her an enabler. He could do no wrong in her eyes, and I just don’t believe that nobody in the palace had any idea what was happening

FA Trophy FC Halifax Town 1-1 Kidderminster Town Kidderminster win 4-3 on penalties Started well, scored after ten minutes, then sort of faded away. Conceded with ten minutes to go, and when it went to penners our abject penalty taking returned with a vengeance So, not quite good enough in...

    Ticket history

On the basis that we know it isn’t an offence to buy a railcard discounted ticket whilst not holding the relevant railcard * can we completely discount this getting dad into any sort of trouble? * for the OP - for example people buy tickets for family members; people buy tickets in advance of...

    Airports you have used

When we were there virtually all the tourists were Russians. We were there a week, and changed $100 into the Ukrainian money, but everyone wanted dollars, so by the last night we still had about $95 left. We found a bar that took the local money, queued at a counter and via sign language...

Indeed. But interesting to note that the barrister who Pryce drew into her conspiracy to leak the details to the press ended up getting twice as long as either of the perpetrators
