" High Commissioner Whisky - made on our route in Glasgow"
Don't LNER cease serving Glasgow from the December timetable change and before this menu comes in?
Peterborough to Kings Cross and return yesterday (Saturday)...
Sets in reverse formation on the outward trip. (engineering work meant the Leeds service runs via Hambleton)
Prompt service straight after departure from Peterborough. Chicken brioche roll, crisps and a bland red wine.
Return saw...
There is only a handfull of SP/MU differentials in the Peterborough to Ely route, and none that are as severe as 20/60.
There are currently a number of ESR/TSRs on the route that you may be thinking of with freight currently limited to 30mph over Welney Bridges.
The route between Ely and...
You get a half hour stop in Wembley Receptions but otherwise there's no real difference apart from the longer journey time, 55 minutes in the case of the northbound Highlander.
On Sunday January 12th 2025 it is booked via ECML and the York avoider if that is of interest to you.
There's not normally cancellations on route the Sunday. All trains booked 3 car 170. The first couple of Leicester to Birmingham services get very busy, along with returns from Birmingham late afternoon/early evening.
Unless there is football/rugby on at Leicester, PBO-LEI is usually busy but...
The Skeggy service is pretty reliable these days now that they are (nearly) all booked 3 cars, along with extra summer MFSO strengthening. The delays due to overcrowding are largely a thing of the past.
It's the westbound Liverpool that causes the issue as when it's a few minutes late it will...
It's not normally the Skegness services that hold them up, unless they're late and then follow the Skegness out of Nottingham.
The eastbound Norwich waits at Nottingham Branch Junction for the westbound Liverpool. If the Liverpool is up to 10-15 late, then the Norwich waits.
Given the cant on...
The route has become pretty unreliable at the eastern end, sadly.
Often the train is a few minutes late at Grantham, waits to get across the ECML and then the same at Peterborough, with some "interesting" regulation from the DRS* at York ROC. They will then follow the Ipswich stopper from...
The Mon to Sat 1539 ex Nottingham and 1857 ex Norwich were withdrawn during covid and have yet to be reinstated.
No idea when or if they are going to return.
Regarding the former level crossing...
Lights and barriers remain.
Barriers secured in the down position.
Railway line has been fenced off with palacade fencing, and the entrance to the road from the Whittlesey end is now gated.
The actual crossing over the tracks has been removed but the...
It's the embankment that is the issue, not the bridge.
The embankment between the railway bridge and the underpass is built on a old clay pit lake, and it is settling/moving/sliding/dissolving faster than expected, despite all the extra work done so far (reprofiling embankment, etc etc). See...
LNER removed 21 (20std/1first) seats from their 9 car Azumas to provide an extra 11 luggage stacks, which is usually sufficient.
From my experience, when there are engineering works and pairs of 5 cars work the some of the reduced Edinburgh services, the lack of luggage space is a serious...
Isn't the intention for EMR to largely withdraw the existing Newark Northgate-Lincoln services which then provides the unit to extend the Crewe*-Newark Castle through to Lincoln?
*the above MR article suggests that origin station may change.
No.
AIUI, it stops with the front off the platform (south end) and the rear carriages platformed.
It blocks the through road (and access to platforms 1 and 2) whilst doing this using platform 3.
Happy to be corrected.
