Inlaws travelling today Newcastle - Kings Cross, now via Manchester and then to Euston! I don't think they appreciated me ringing before 8am to say get up, dressed and to the station asap! Haha
Won't believe the media, but will believe the government when they announce it - I mean that's one way of looking at it!
From my POV, it's bonkers to announce something like this that will effect Manchester when you are holding your conference in Manchester. You couldn't make it up!
The XC service is not slowed down by stopping at Brock, the service takes the same time Bournemouth to Southampton whether it stops there or not.
SWR do provide a perfectly good service, but they don't stop at stations north of Basingstoke, that's what the XC service is for - to provide...
Does this mean any restoration of the stops at Brockenhurst? Looking at the timetable, the service takes as long Bmth-Soton whether it stops at Brock or not. So why not stop there and reopen the links back up from further north to a national park?
To be honest, your post comes across as a bit cocksure, so I would definitely dial that dial down if/when you have to communicate with Chiltern!
As you've short fared 4 or 5 times before, I think it shows intent to evade fares. All I can say is in the future it'll be better to pay the full fare...
Basically, no.
Most people in Stratford drive to Warwick Parkway, Leamington or Banbury depending on which side of town you live / where you are travelling to.
Thanks all.
I'll see what happens - I've got screenshots of all the cancelled trains etc so I'm sure it'll be fine.
It was better than waiting over 2hrs at Moreton for a train!
Hi all
Travelling today to Paddington today from Moreton-in-Marsh on advance singles.
There were massive delays this morning at Moreton due to signalling issues, so I drove to Oxford to pick a GWR up there. The gateline staff were happy for me to use my advance single from Oxford.
When I...
Give them a chance, they are literally taking over pretty much the whole service at incredibly short notice which can be measured in hours rather than days!
I do it all the time! It's especially good at the moment, as the link shuttle brings you out at security and you miss all the queue downstairs waiting to get up there....
Thanks for the reply! Must have sold out then, usually the journey planner shows them as being unavailable or sold out tho. Either way I was going to go at 7am, but you're right about it being busy. I'll just drive even tho we'll have our other car up there!
Have advance fares been released yet for late December? I was mulling getting the train on the 27th from Leamington Spa to Durham to join my other half up there already with her family, but there is only flexible tickets on sale - even at this stage.
Even tried splitting at Birmingham New...
I think it's because both airlines' planes will be smaller in seat terms so in order to offer the Flybe 80 seats per flight, it'll take two smaller planes to make up the numbers.
Flybe were going to increase Soton to Newcastle to 4 times daily this summer too.
Maybe, I suppose it's always good to check but equally I think the very large majority of people know about the zones - it wouldn't take much to have a symbol to say premium fare applies beyond H&H.
