Our new ticketing site is now live! Using either this or the original site (both powered by TrainSplit) helps support the running of the forum with every ticket purchase! Find out more and ask any questions/give us feedback in this thread!
I’ve always had it expire exactly a year after the old one, as you were expecting. I think there’s a maximum (28 days iirc) and you have to specifically click ‘renew’ against last year’s for it to link, but it’s been that way for at least a decade. If they’ve changed it then it’s very annoying -...
Just to add quickly, my issue was the same as described and I can confirm it now works as I would expect/hope. Many thanks indeed for such a quick resolution. It also appears now to be loading a couple of seconds faster, don’t know if that’s related in any way but I’ll consider it a bonus!
A nasty and unfortunate side effect of the change in BRFares is the new CMP, @Paul Kelly is there any chance you can take a look at improving it? Specifically there’s no single-click option to ‘disagree to all’ (as is now best practice and if I’m not mistaken also somewhere in law), meaning...
It’s at least better than SWR, whose Arterio announcements are sometimes just wrong. Approaching Teddington it says ‘change here for service to Strawberry Hill and Richmond’ when you’re on that train already! They need two sets of announcements, one for loop trains and another for Shepperton…...
Crossrail doesn't really count here though, as most stations (at least on the western branch) have readily accessible ‘airside’ toilets and tickets aren’t tied to specific trains, so if you‘re travelling end-to-end and get really desperate you can get off and effectively step back a train. For...
Completely agree. As non-staff I’ve seen some very challenging experiences this week with significant disruption and much longer journey times than usual, but you could tell that everyone - both front and back office - were trying their best to run what they can where they can. Tbh it makes a...
Increased safety risk from the monotony of the same route over and over and avoiding ‘operating on autopilot’. The Windsor branch has one too, in this case I think it was agreed with unions to spread work out over various branches on the same shift to prevent it.
It’s both, but principally the training is designed to keep their attention from wandering. Used increasingly across industries - e.g. cabin crew are trained that way for safety-critical duties, and NYC subway conductors do it while pointing at the checkerboard to minimise risk.
Very sensible...
Most of the GWR branch lines appear to be out. Windsor, Marlow, Falmouth, Looe and Gunnislake all affected. Windsor is particularly unusual, it takes a lot to kill that off.
Does Maidenhead East junction have the same points issues as Dolphin? I’ve not heard of it there before, unlike the latter which has been common for years, so naturally wondering why they don’t keep Twyford and Maidenhead before routing onto the fast line from there.
Depends what else is going on. If there’s no other incident and they can still be useful, the teams would likely stay. But particularly those who travelled quite far would likely be sent back to their own patch fairly soon if deemed non-critical. Helimed teams rarely treat small injuries, that’s...
Why do tickets bought through Uber show as payment method W, even if paid fully on card? Is it a weird behind-the-scenes accounting/settlement quirk?
(Appreciate it’s of no real consequence, just my curiosity has been piqued and thought I’d ask as someone here is bound to know!)
Crossrail/TfL posters have gone up shouting about ‘more sunday services west of London’… does anyone know what these are? I’ve looked at the linked timetable and nothing seems obvious so am guessing it’s just a handful of extras that allow them to boast about it (but without being specific)?
It’s punctuated incredibly poorly, but the website definitely says they can be purchased at SE ticket offices. If it does ever go to online-only, they should really include any mandatory postage fees in the sale price.
In addition to the problem of post-dated (or otherwise) railcards there’s also an issue with those approaching expiry, as currently they can only be renewed within 30 days, while tickets are available for 12 weeks. Even in the current customer-unfriendly environment I don’t see anyone from the...
Massive shame, it’s the most useful thing about their website. If anyone can recommend an alternative site that allows a similar ‘click here for all/slower ticket options’ function, I’d be very grateful.
(For clarity, what I want is the ability to select by choosing a particular ticket...
I think they should remember the reason DR was introduced in the first place… a public display of contrition when they delayed us, as a counter-balance to ever-increasing fares. If they don’t like the amounts, try having fewer delays.
So no, I don’t think any of it should be abolished. If...
For a ‘belt and braces’ approach, I’d also be tempted to write to WMT (given they operate the services) and ask them to raise it through their industry contacts with Crosscountry. I say this specifically because I’ve found WMT to be very good in this area - I have in the past written a query...
It’s similar in the airline industry, Edinburgh is booming and everyone wants to go there, while Glasgow is declining and the airport operator is struggling. Ironically it means tiny EDI is cramped and chaotic for much of the day, while GLA has a large terminal that’s massively underused...
