    Trivia: Short Shuttle Services

Southern have very short distance Barnham to Bognor Regis shuttles (daily) and Brighton to Hove shuttles (sundays) which are both very short one stop journeys.

Trivia: Small/independent operators with well-presented fleets

Compass Bus deserve a mention. They are one of the best quality bus operators i know. They have always had a very well maintained and well presented fleet. It is overall a very well run operation with nice professional drivers and clean well maintained vehicles. Compass Bus have expanded a lot...

Different Guard Depot, Route and Traction cards

Yes they still have 11 guards based at Wickford depot. Every train between Wickford and Southminster must have a guard booked but (unlike most other GA guard routes) the train can run full DOO with just the driver if a guard is unavailable. Every train on the Wickford to Southminster line i have...

Strange/unusual destinations programmed in the PIS

LNER also have Stanford Le Hope (a stop on the C2C network) announcements recorded. I believe this was a mistake as they got it mixed up with Stamford which they intended to record in case it was ever needed for diversionary purposes. LNER also have all the stops on the entire East Coast Main...

Strange/unusual destinations programmed in the PIS

701s have Salisbury programmed on them despite the line not even being electrified: 701s also have Southampton via Guildford and Haslemere programmed on them: SWR have used 707s on Southampton via Basingstoke and Winchester services very rarely so i suppose this latter one could...

Most multiple units used for a service

And here it is at Haywards Heath station just now. Units 377315 + 377317 + 377318 + 377310 working back from Brighton to London again.

Most multiple units used for a service

It has been a while since i last saw one of those. It looks like 377310 + 377318 + 377317 + 377315 are on a Brighton to London diagram today. London Victoria is closed to many services this weekend so that probably makes it even busier.

Any other UK units that don't have traction interlock?

The 373s are definitely unique in being the only train with the passenger doors not interlocked. I am quite surprised that the 373s have never been modified. You would think that health and safety regulations would ban it. Some of the older BREL stock has no cab door interlock (like the 150/1...

LNER Delay repay - train cancelled partway through journey

Yes 01424 is the five digit ticket number. Put 01424 on the form. The format is 01424 (ticket number) then 3773 (machine number) then 4278 (issuing location) then the last short codes are the window numbers and version numbers and the codes underneath are the time and date of issue.

New Jersey Transit to charge USD100.00 for a six mile journey during the football world cup.

It gets even worse! So it has now increased to USD150.00 for a six-mile return journey, and they are inconveniencing all the ordinary commuters too! The normal fare is USD12.90 so this world cup USD150.00 is now a 12x fare increase! This will go down in history as the most extortionate railway...

Strange/unusual destinations programmed in the PIS

I have seen photos of a 374 unit displaying Blackpool North on the PIS screens. Presumably somebody just programmed that for a bit of fun as there is zero chance that a 374 will ever end up there.

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

It depends on the day of the week and on the direction that you are travelling but there are some quite big gaps in the early morning at the end of the night bus service. • Monday To Friday Morning Northbound has a gap of 60 minutes between the last night bus and the first day bus. • Saturday...

    Odd ticket stocks

What i do not understand is why some TFL new style Cubic TVMs print 9399/9499 style stock and some TFL new style Cubic TVMs print 9599 style stock. They are the same exact make and model and installed at the same time but yet they have different stock. I have never known this to happen with any...

Best (cheapest) way to get to Luton / Stansted / Gatwick using a Freedom Pass?

If you have a London Freedom Pass then you can still get from Central London to Gatwick and Luton and Stansted for free by using a mixture of trains and buses. Gatwick Airport: • Train (Southern/Thameslink) - London to Coulsdon South • Bus (405) - Coulsdon South to Redhill • Bus...

£2 fare cap comes to Scotland:

Liberty Bus in Jersey also has a one hour ticket that costs the same as a single ticket but you have to specifically ask for it. I do not understand why you have ask for it in Manchester and Jersey when it costs the same. Why not just issue it by default. It is stupid to have separate single...

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

Another bit of B&H news is that the night bus routes N12 and N14 are seeing a big frequency increase from mid June to each run hourly all night long in both directions giving a combined half hourly service. This will be on seven nights a week. This was mentioned briefly in the ESCC document but...

Grand Central apply for Newcastle - Brighton direct

I doubt it will be approved. Brighton Main Line is a very busy two track railway with very few spare paths. I doubt they want extra odd services to complicate the line and risk more chance of delays.
