The most surprising thing is that their controband phones weren't isolated from every possible outside source of making them loud.
It's literally just a single setting they didn't do.
If it doesn't impact your other options, it's worth a try to ask. The person you'll want to ask is the guard/train manager (the title is irrelevant, the role is the same) as they are the one with the authority to let you travel on their train.
To confirm are your tickets
Leeds - Sheffield Advance Northern Only
Sheffield - Nottingham Advance EMR Only
And Nottingham - Leicester Advance EMR Only
Since you are using split tickets you must go via the split points, so if your tickets split at Sheffield and Nottingham you must go via...
The Northern Ellesmere Port service does not go via Runcorn, it goes via Earlestown (platform 3)
There are empty services that go via Runcorn, but none in passenger service.
And no clue why it goes slightly down the freight only line at Runcorn
Yes, all the time.
TPE's seat reservation tool will give me a bad seat, or even just a decent seat but otherwise worse than the alternative and I'll sit somewhere else.
A couple weeks ago I had a booked seat of B1 on a TPE from Glasgow, upon approaching the train I saw coach b was very busy...
In addition looking at the map:
Civities should be shown as via Warrington Central, e.g. 2O86 2247 Manchester Oxford Road to Liverpool Lime Street https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:P24205/2026-08-18/detailed#allox_id=0
They also appear all day on separate Warrington-Oxford Road...
In the Turbostar section under Northern you have:
Being based near Hull, these also have a few moves that go between York and Hull, such as Saturday's 2R31 2045 York to Hull.

Obviously some changes will need to be made...
Don't think so, at least not with some modifications to the line - I think the last time they tried to take a 195 to Southport it got stuck there for a week, not sure what arrangements were done to get it back.
What's the breakdown on cargo types for DB?
I know they do the Knowsley - Tees dock waste train, and some cargo but I'm not too sure beyond that.
There's the yard at Warrington but I feel like I don't see many of those wagons move (and I'm not certain what they are for anyway, coal/aggregate?)
Generally Avanti stations are quite good in terms of this, pretty much everything points to the platform numbers and exactly which carriages line up with which, so people wait at whichever number works for them.
now, all the Circle, District, and Hammersmith & City run with the same S7 stock which has 7 carriages, the Metropolitan line runs with S8 Stock with 8 carriages.
I have heard stuff to that effect said by the guard once on the train, but nothing so committal other than just being told to spread out from platform staff.
Works for me, given Piccadilly 13/14 is usually quite annoying but the far front (or back of 6 cars) isn't usually a bad spot to board...
Anyone else unable to buy tickets this morning?
I've tried BRFares, the trainsplit app and the forum site and all of them are failing, just getting "An error occurred while processing your card. Try again."
Not sure if it's just me or if it's a wider thing.
