    Manchester - Stalybridge Electrification

Out of idle curiosity more than any real need to know reason. What sort of conductor material, conductor cross section and insulation will the "extension lead" have. How are terminations at length ends made?

    Caledonian Sleeper Mk5 Discussion

Why does the stock need to communicate with the locos? What "computer" is on the 73? Seems bonkers they can't just be switched to a basic mode and be hauled as per standard stock. I assume thsat any old random loco cannot move the mk5s unless it has the relevent computer and comms?

Northern Unit Refurbishments and depot allocations.

Really like the northern 158s I'm not interested in the LED gimmicks, seat reservations etc, but the unit looks bright and smart. Northern really need to focus on providing basic simple clean smart interiors that can be kept that way. The problem with the 158 will be how long northern can keep...

TPE Mark 5A coaching stock progress

I suppose now is the time you'd expect flats to happen. Crews inexperienced in preparing / handling / characteristics of the locos and stock, leaf fall season and all.

Porterbrook moans about new franchises ordering new trains

I've been watching this with interest. Clearly the post delivery phase is where the ongoing profitability lies. I think that we will see a couple of spin off companies set up and or the fleets and maintenance sold off to cash in the future monies early. Rather like what had happened with many...

    GN Class 717

Slightly OT but does anywhere clean tunnels/subway systems if so, how?

What is your controversial railway opinion/idea?

Faster speeds should be available on prescription lines and commuter services run on them (with modern stock). Particularly those with mainline connections.

    Northern Class 331: Construction/Introduction Updates

Sounds like an air leak at the front to me.
