OP here
I see for the week before my trip tickets are now available
A day trip to Carlisle, from Newcastle on LNER with a railcard could be less than £15 .. maybe worth a trip. Not all tickets on the image below are with LNER .. some are with NorthernRail
My wife and i shall be visiting Liverpool soon, a city we have been to a few times.
During previous visits, we have had day trips to Chester and Llandudno, which were both great.
I am looking for somewhere new to visit .. either for a day or even just a few hours. We'll be using public...
I live near Newcastle and have seen adverts in the station for cheap fares, as low as £34 for NCL to KGX although when my wife and I have travelled, even with railcards, we have always paid at least double that, if not a lot more.
I see though, the 06:33 train tomorrow would only be £38.20...
My wife and I shall be travelling from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen's Street soon, a trip we have done a few times before.
We usually take the faster route, via Linlithgow and Polmont, but I see there is a slower service (about 30 minutes more) which goes via Uphall, Bathgate and Airdrie.
Which...
OP here .. thank you for all the replies.
I'm not really sure what I was thinking .. if there is no ECML travel that day, booking could be a real problem .. luckily I booked the hotel on a flexible rate, so if we can't get to Glasgow I can cancel.
It's 14 weeks today, so hopefully in a couple...
My wife and I shall be travelling to Glasgow on Sunday 27th September from Newcastle and would normally travel there via Edinburgh on LNER and Scotrail.
I read somewhere that LNER has routine maintenance every year (in September) on the ECML, so trains go via Carlisle. What date is this please...
On Sunday morning (7th June) my wife and I travelled from Newcastle to YORK
We got the Mumbai Chicken Toastie, which was very nice followed by strawberry & lime pudding pots.
On our return (Wednesday 10th)we got smoky bean pasta which was also very nice .. I forgot to take a picture though
Premier Inn Sheffield City Centre (Angel Street)
My wife and I have just returned from a short stay here and everything was great
The hotel is maybe a 15-minute walk from the railway station and up a bit of a hill.
The hotel is near a Wetherspoons (The Banker's Draft) which served us two...
Premier Inn Lincoln City Centre (Broadgate)
My wife and I have just returned from a short stay here and everything was great
The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the railway station (8-10 minutes at the most)
We had actually bought Plusbus tickets, so were able to take the bus from the...
OP here .. yes, I know the advance fare would be £4.15 each (single, with railcard) .. I was wondering what this single fare would be if I bought it, just as I was about to travel
What would the single fare be for a ticket from Lincoln to Sheffield bought on the day of travel please ?
My wife and I will be taking this journey next month and see the direct train would be £8.30 for the two of us. £4.15 each seems a great price.
Buying on the day would give us extra...
Thank you !
I might give them a call tomorrow to make sure.
I see now there are actually some free buses in Sheffield, so I'll have to investigate further. I have a free pass anyway,. so it's just for my wife
