I remember seeing a Mercedes in a small town in East Germany in the 1970s. The driver was ostentatiously showing-off his capitalist wealth!

What a fabulous snare, M - a pre-facelift one 8-) Did you get to see the boot badge? W114 were the six-cylinder variant; W115 were the smaller-engined four-pots.

It's certainly tidier than the W114 coupe I saw, locally, a year ago (link to my post).

Thats great, looks like the West German ambassador from 1978 just popped to the shops.
Needed more Ferrero Rocher, perhaps. ;)

A rather splendid 1963 Lambretta Special. 8-)
53 weeks ago, I saw a 1959 Vesoa (linked) at that location, six parking-spaces away.

I don't recall seeing many estates about in the day
I agree. My father had a 1977 Marina saloon and it always seened smaller cabin space than the Ford Cortina. I used to see many Cortina estates Mk3 + Mk4. Marina estates were, as you say, less common.

The 1997/R Vauxhall Calibra I espied on an early August night (post 965) has made its daylight appearance, albeit in grotty deluge.
This car and Peugeot's 406 Coupe were the most handsome affordable mass-made coupe cars of their time, in my view. If only their interior and their grunt + handling had matched it...

1987 Rover SD1 / 3500 Vitesse, only 90k miles. Rovers generally quite rare on the roads now?

Any elderly Renault 4 parked opposite Livorno Centrale station yesterday evening....with a rather strange plastic radiator grille. The low evening sun was so strong that the car appeared to be a different colour from the front than from the rear.IMG_20261013_180249.jpgIMG_20261013_180224.jpg
