So, with massive thanks to @northstaffsman and @Adrian Barr I can confirm the summary that Adrian did in post #2097 is correct. :D

99002 and 99005 didn't swap diagrams on Tuesday as TOPS/RTT/Industry data suggested, but they did actually swap on Wednesday.

For the Thursday morning arrivals at London Gateway, TOPS/RTT/Industry data is correct. 99002 arrived on 4L47 and 99005 arrived on 4L01.

Now the next big question, what did 99002 and 99005 do yesterday and today please? :s

I ask because if 99002 is on 4M01 today as per TOPS/TRUST/RTT/Industry Data then this means at some point they have swapped diagrams again! If they did, when was this?

I also notice that 4M47 doesn't appear to be running today, yet 4L47 arrived at London Gateway this morning.

On Sunday I aim to post a summary of what's done what and explain a bit more why I'm so interested.

Per post by @Tobytrain10 below, could be 99005
Maybe useful to @99009, apparently 4M01 today is actually 99005

(can see @Tobytrain10 has just posted same time as me).

I think you mentioned you were doing a full log?
Exactly this; didn't realise I'd already said it! I'm doing a full log of the class. It's inspired by similar websites that exist for the Class 25, Class 37 and Class 40, especially the 40 one, which is this one. http://www.class40motherlist.com/locos.html

At the moment it's just me typing up everything on a Word document, which as more and more workings occur I'm finding is getting more and more difficult, especially when last minute workings or swaps like this happen. Eventually/when time allows, the plan is to put all that data onto a dedicated website like the Class 40 one so everyone can see and it can be a resource for enthusiasts now and 10/20/30+ years into the future.

It's not possible without a lot of time researching and verifying every move through finding sightings, photos or videos, combined with the assistance of members on here, so if you've replied to any of my queries then thank you very much because everything does help.

That would be absolutely perfect, thank you very much.

I would be inclined to use Excel rather then Word. You can then structure your notes a bit better as you add info. The result is more likely to be easy to convert to another format.

I admire your dedication - its only 30 locomotives but will be a hell of a lot of data !.
In the future there will be people thankful for the information.

Excellent, thank you @Tobytrain10 and also @Peter Sarf for that advice.

So now the only remaining questions are:

a) Does anyone have a photo/video of what 99002 and 99005 did yesterday? My guess is that @Tobytrain10 is correct and 99002 did 4M01/4L01 while 99005 did 4M47/4L47 and that both locos kept swapping diagrams this week, but would like to be certain if possible.

b) Where is 99002 now? Presumably at London Gateway since 4M47 hasn't ran for some reason today.

Assuming we can work out when the allocations swapped i suppose you can work out what was where based on the trust runnings for each since?

And 99005 is showing as still at London gateway so reasonable given the evidence above that it is actually 99002 there.

Unfortunately, what 99002 and 99005 did on Thursday 27th August 2026 remains a mystery.

I've searched various sites and the only possible clue I've found so far is a sighting on Trainlogger. Someone claims to have seen 99005 at Barking on Thursday 27th August 2026, but they didn't see 99002.

Looking at the other locos they saw, especially the GBRF 66's, I've deduced that, assuming they got the correct number, 99005 was on the later working to pass through Barking. That would be 4M47 to Hams Hall, which would leave 99002 for the earlier 4M01 to East Midlands Gateway.

That would mean that this week from Tuesday - Friday each loco kept swapping destination.

If anyone else has better luck finding anything or knows for sure (or you're the person who put the Barking sighting on Trainlogger) please let me know!

On railcam 4M01 was inputted as 99002 and sighting and 4M47 inputted as 99005 and sighting aswell, if you dont use railcam, there is 3 allocation settings, 1: official 2: third party allocation: 3: sighting

Edit: and on railrecord 4M01 is allocated (incorrectly) as 99001 and 4M47 is allocated 99005 with a note that says
Actual Sighting. Note other sources are incorrectly showing 99002 on this.
Edit 2: in Contact with someone who has seen 4M01 most, if not all week, but he wont be able to supply allocations until this evening or tommorow i think

Excellent, that matches up perfectly with the Barking sighting of 99005 on Trainlogger. Thank you very very much @Tobytrain10 and also for your great Youtube video from Tamworth on the 17th. Happy to wait a while for the person who has seen 4M01 a lot this week to get back to you.

Thank you as well @LA50041 for what TOPS is saying. I think it's very likely now that the northbound workings were incorrectly inputted and the southbound workings were correct.

Once I've finished updating everything I'll post a summary here (probably tomorrow) of which loco worked what train.

Also worth noting there is way too much conflicting data for the rest of the week to be able to confirm anything until i get pictures

also for your great Youtube video from Tamworth on the 17th.
Thanks!

Okay... seems like me and my freind both misunderstood each other:|
He thought i wanted allocations, not screenshots of what they were lol, he hadnt seen nearly as many as he made it sound like, so i cannot confirm anymore than i already have.

Okay, on last sunday 4A01 was 99002 and 66723, i have proof for that, and hes saying tuesday and wednesday 4M01 was 99005 past tamworth, but this is from his memory, he deleted the videos because he needed more storage

Sorry for promising something i wasnt able to give

I was out on Tuesday and I saw 99 005 at Wembley while I was on board 350 372 + 350 111 from Milton Keynes to Euston; we passed Wembley at 14.10 so if 4M01 was at Wembley at 14.10 that day, I can confirm that one.

Wouldn’t that have been more likely to be 4M47 actually?
Looking at railcam allocations and times, i reckon both monday and tuesday had 99002 on 4M01 and 99005 on 4M47 and my freind has a horrid memory but looking further ahead at allocation, everything is conflicting so i really dont know
