They are definitely much better than the earlier examples
They would probably have been better with no sun roof or tinted windows. I've only ridden on one of them twice...

I was behind a Trentbarton bus the other day, and noticed the wording on the back. "Every 10 minutes all the time".. But on that route they aren't "all the time" . Sometimes they are every 12 minutes, sometimes 20, sometimes 30.

I've always thought the move towards E200 midibuses from three generations of 'full-size' buses (Excels, L94UBs then B7RLEs) to be a surprising downgrade. Not had enough personal experience of them since moving out of Nottingham, but interesting to hear seemingly consistent accounts from posters in this thread.

Hardly unique to Trent Barton. Most operators have done this, either this or Streetlites

I had cause to ride on a Streetlite in Derby. The next time, I walked .. Okay, a plus was no sun roof. Noisy, cranky, like it should have been on the way to a scrapyard. Come September, that operator will also have Enviro 200MMCs.

A tad unrelated however iirc, Arriva Derby were due a single 17-plate 200MMC from MK some time ago however it was involved in a RTC during the transfer itself and was returned to it's original location

The 24 plates are definitely better in the passenger saloon but no different for the driver.

I think the other allestree's have 'all the time' on as well so it's a common feature on the branding.

But it isn't every 10 minutes all the time.

The people who have said it isnt an issue, have obviously never been on a MMC with a sun roof in the height of summer. I never get on a bus when its hot unless i have to, and many people will think the same, so that will hit their revenue
Exactly the same with arriva and their Wright Electroliners it's like a greenhouse on wheels.

I feel as though the general message that most of us, including me, are trying to put out is:

Bus operators should invest in installing/repairing AC units on their vehicles (for both passengers and drivers) , as the advantages massively outweigh the negatives. Tinted windows is optional however it would be beneficial for passengers.

The one thing that I don't really like about tinted windows is that on a gloomy day, it makes the weather look even duller than it actually is. But that false impression is probably a first-world problem compared to summer heat.

Does anyone have an opinion if the later batch of E200MMCs, which trent fitted with the darker "super tint" glazing have helped to keep the interior temperature down slightly or not at all?
Yes there is a noticeable difference, that's why over the summer 176/7 have appeared on the nines on the Sundays; because they are cooler.

No better for the driver though, other than having two sunblinds on the front which is slightly better.

Give me a Volvo, Excel or Scania any day!

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't buses and drivers cabs allot cooler back in the day when drivers could/would drive with the doors open to offer some additional ventilation? I know on some vehicles it can still be done but its frowned upon these days by both companies and Health and Safety for obvious reasons.

This morning, Solo SR 498 had the honour of being the first bus to run the new Kinchbus 66.

YJ07 EFT (formerly Kinchbus 3 and CT4N 928) is tracking back at Littles as B1.

I've once ridden a notts+derby solo (471 I believe) not too long ago on the 27 and the driver had no issues driving along at 40-45 with the doors open... same with CT4N albeit at lower speeds. Most likely that smaller operators can get away with this easier than with operators such as Arriva or trentbarton

It also depends on the vehicle used, as some will automatically close the door over a certain speed

Looks like nottsderby are taking over L2, L4, L14, 20 routes from CT4N as mentioned in the CT4N thread as 101/2/3/4
The L14 successor (the 104) seems to be curtailed to the Heathfield estates, rather than continuing down into Basford and Bulwell. It also now looks to down Mansfield Road and Sherwood Rise rather than going down Alfreton Road and Hyson green (which seems to be an entire suburb with 0 buses now).

YJ07 EFT is not at Littles. It was one of the loan buses at Littles, Solo SR 496 from Trentbarton at Sutton or Solo 1149 from TM Travel. As far as I am aware, the only slimline Solo of that batch, is number 4 at Kinchbus.

Is it not? I assumed that EFT had returned from CT4N following their collapse, unless it'd been bought outright by the latter company so would thus be auctioned off with the rest of their fleet.

As far as I know, all the CT4N vehicles have gone for auction (apart from the SEGRO Yutongs and maybe the deckers). Then, with Littles, we do seem to have a few vehicles not showing on Bustimes. They have two other Streetlites.B20/B21, in addition to the usual one. I think B1 and D3 are 496/1149.

Yes, the ticket machines still showing the bus they were last fitted in.

Will be a busy week for Littles and notts and derby with all the new routes, and schools returning. I wonder who has taken on the lengthy school/college runs that CT4N did.

The Threes at Sutton needs an additional vehicle from Tuesday, paid for at least partially by the combined authority to improve punctuality, but they appear to have had 496 removed.

Look, Sutton needs two more buses. Expect cancellations elsewhere due to traffic. ;). Well if there isn't enough buses to meet the PVR. Did the CT4N deckers go back to Johnsons?

Does anyone else find TM Travel's decline under Wellglade quite striking?

This was once a 100+ vehicle operation, yet now it's less than half that size and appears increasingly reliant on second hand fleet transfers. In recent years TM Travel has lost a significant amount of work. Most recently, services 9A and 70A transferred to First South Yorkshire from 12 April, while the M44, M45 and M55 moved to SMT Bus & Coach from 26 July

The 218 "Peak Line" is perhaps the best example of missed potential. Around a decade ago there appeared to be genuine ambition for the route, with the refurbished Scania L94 Solar fleet receiving distinctive Peak Line branding, upgraded interiors and next stop announcements. Much of that investment and identity has now disappeared, with only a handful of branded bus stop flags and a small section on the TM Travel website remaining as evidence of what the route once represented (https://www.tmtravel.co.uk/218/)

Likewise, the 30 was once promoted as "Sheffield's Line 30", operating every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime and often carrying standing loads. Today it runs every 30 minutes and passenger numbers appear to have declined to the point where a Solo could probably cope with peak-time demand. Both seem a shadow of their former selves today.

With South Yorkshire franchising on the horizon, what do people think TM Travel's future looks like? Could franchising provide stability, or is the operator destined to continue shrinking?

i think TM will survive after franchising ,the 218 service is a commercial route and wont be affected plus their school work in derbyshire and the flixbus work will be enough to keep Halfway depot open (unless Wellglade decide to pull out_

I'll ask why you think the 218 won't be affected? Surely the franchising model sees all bus services taken in. Okay, some that operate outside the area may be done on permits. I can't see the remaining work being enough to carry on. But time will tell.

I'm sure I saw 218 will be on a permit before somewhere and won't be franchised.
