By the early 90s the 14 had disappeared with the 12 and 13 both being every 15 minutes. I lived in Dunkirk in 1995-6 on the 13 route, but not far from the 12.
NCT ran the tendered 310 on a Sunday then Nottingham - Castle Donnington - Loughborough which took the 13 route between Nottingham and Beeston and ran every 3 hours. I was surprised when it turned up once, but caught it anyway and was an hour early at my destination as I'd missed the clock change
It was a little bit of the 3 and a lot of the 10
I had the pleasure of a ride on a South notts minibus 310, perhaps 1993 and the absolute bargain of the Sherwood Forester day ticket! those were the days
I’m really looking forward to a trip up t’ north tomorrow.
Secret fares on Seat Frog seem to be at an all time high of £20 each way instead of the usual £15.
For anyone needing a bargain fare, try £9 Euston to Tamworth before 10am and roughly the same price Tamworth to Nottm. £18 London to Nottingham before 10am, I’ve not found it possible before, unless anyone knows, I’m all ears. Occasionally Seat frog throw in the odd 7’ish but it’s really 10:05-11:35 I seem to be given.
I’d usually use the 36 after leaving Nottingham station, (even though I could get the tram) however it’ll ABSOLUTELY be the 18 tomorrow.
For me it’ll seem surreal being 50 years old, regularly using Barton’s 18/32. Never would I imagined NCT would run the service. And how I wanted them to do so back then.
It marks a historic moment where NCT is dipping its toes deep into what was traditionally known as "TrentBartonLand."
Also elsewhere, I’ve seen negative criticism of the EasyRider Further fare and the Robin Hood zone at Bramcote village.
My own negativity manifests from being a young lad around 1990 and how the Sherwin Arms acted as an almost double whammy fare stage! It was the grand fare of 50p half fare 1990. A couple of stops away it was 60p adult fare lol.
To be honest I see NCT doing exactly the same as TrentBarton in using the Sherwin Arms as a fare hike unfortunately.
The original boundary of Robin Hood was the Nursery Man pub Wollaton Road. NCT took over the 31 so the boundary was pushed further up Derby Road to Cow Lane Bramcote, where the 31 deviated. So it’s possible to change. It might have been called kangaroo then.
I really hope with local government reorganisations, the Robin Hood zone is expanded. Surely it’s a given if the city boundary is about to swallow Broxtowe amongst other areas. But that’s something else….a
