Can I break my Tring to Worthing journey at Sutton?

Hi all

I have a Worthing to Tring, return within a month, valid via any permitted route.

I would like to stop off at Sutton on the way back, using the victoria to horsham train from victoria, or the sutton loop thameslink from st pancras.

Then back to Worthing via either Horsham and Barnham or Norwood Junction and East Croydon.

You can only go as far as Ford on the coastway but otherwise okay.
Edit: As per below there is an easement to allow travel via Barnham so all Okay

  • LP + EN
  • SC + EN
  • SC + LB + EN

plus the easement already mentioned.

SC, for example, allows travel via Sutton.

Is the alternative route that the OP was enquiring about, i.e. Tring->Sutton (London)->Norwood Junction->East Croydon->Worthing, a permitted route without multiple tickets possibly being needed?

The OPs post specified using the Victoria to Horsham service which travels via Mitcham Junction

It's a 'yes'. Map SC allows travel from London to Sutton via a variety of routes, including via Mitcham Junction or via Wimbledon. You could also get there via West Croydon but if doing so you are correct that you would then need to continue in the same direction, i.e. via Dorking.
