When are these trains going to be tested on the Uxbridge branch?
Nothing scheduled yet.
There is a 5-day closure at the end-of October, to commission signalling changes in South Harrow sidings to allow 2024 Stock use.

What actually changes in terms of the signalling, given that the line is not being re-signalled?

No details yet, a guess would be co-acting signals which have so far been provided at almost all other signals on the Piccadilly, despite no funding for resignalling.

There it is a need to convert the South Harrow - North Ealing signal power supply from 33 to 125 Hz to make sure it is ok with the new train AC traction kit, so may be to do with that

Would they be able to enter into public service just on Heathrow routes before the Uxbridge works are completed?

The new Working Timetable has divided services into self-contained operations:
Uxbridge/Rayners Lane-Arnos Grove
Heathrow-Cockfosters
to eventually allow 2024TS to be kept on depot workings.
Much work still needs to be done to allow any passenger operations however.

The recent test train runs towards Heathrow would have clarified the gauging, platform alignment and track quality works required.
Anyone heard target date for running test trains in amongst normal service trains ( in approved areas such as Cockfosters - Arnos or Northfields - Hammersmith)

Last document I saw said, "Testing in traffic hours will start in September". No further detail yet though.

Londoners need this new train but the scale of work to achieve this was sadly underestimated. We should all hope the necessary focus and skills are used to pull this together ASAP.
And lessons learnt for BLU !!!

The amount of times this sentiment has been stated. Yet every time lessons are quickly forgotten due to pressure from senior management and/or those who do know, not being heeded by senior management or just leaving.

I hear the aim of first passenger service in December 2026 has been binned and now aiming for "Spring" 2027.
This I'm not surprised about. At this point let's just pray it gets into service before this decade ends.

I thought testing during traffic hours had already taken place.
No, only during engineering possessions with little interaction with existing trains, except around Acton Town.
Traffic Hours testing would be running during the day while existing trains are operating on the same sections of Line.

That's a very pessimistic view,
Well what do you expect with so much red taping and things that should have been ironed out and this is not the first time in a project this has occurred but let me not talk too much

I was intrigued by this clip (uploaded 31 July) of a "Londoner U-Bahn" behind a Railadventure diesel, en route from Vienna to Munich.

Londoner U-Bahn, V160 mit Grenzlast uvm. im Linienstern Mühldorf | DieZugGang 123

I've not been following this thread, but after browsing previous posts I gather this will be one of the 20% or so of the Piccadilly line trains which are being built in Vienna, with the rest being assembled in Goole - I take it this will come through the channel tunnel at some point, possibly after a visit to Wildenrath?

Took a couple of snaps in the depot today, sadly 48032 is already looking a bit grubby.

(Picture shows the front of a 24 stock woth dirt on it.)

And below, old vs new.

Incidentally, did someone ask what that little door was in the front cab door, next to the handle? Forgive me if I've mis-remembered the questioner, but it's the flap that reveals the communication socket for the communication cable that would connect two 9-car trains after coupling together in an emergency.

I hadn't previously noticed the step built in to the coupler, presumably to allow easy access/egress to the M door for staff - not particularly necessary on previous stocks with the far smaller Wedgelocks.

It's quite cute tbh

Just because the old one was OK doesn’t mean the new one can’t be better. Nice tread plate on it too
