There are extra Birmingham runs
1R45, 1H77
1R29, 1H53, 1R49
All 68s & sets
Oh, agree. Sorry - was making the point that the diagrams are amended today as there are aervices which usually are mk5 that are not (or cancelled).

So, with all 68s having now been used in service, is it just CH11 left to have not worked in service? Bar 12802 of course.

May need to reclarify.
Yes, the number of diagrams at the moment is 4 in the midweek, but they could use upto six sets across the day if they needed to cycle them.

There could also be more mk5a trips run in the day, using those same four unit diagrams / diagrammed sets.

Is there any info about the planned December Timetable (or whichever change) that plans to up the number of services to use more of these. For example what the Chiltern service patterns will be, or what will be which stock? Sorry if it has been stated in the nearly one and a half thousand posts above.

*edit* found it in another thread just after I asked, of course: Chiltern application to run more London-Birmingham services
unless there is more than the extra London Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street Trains?

Nothing 'traditional, timetable on paper' type info yet (I don't think?).

Just online talk and publication of the WTT online.
Unless the full NRT has been made available yet.

Thanks I'll potentially be using Chiltern more later this year and hadn't been paying much attention before so am trying to see what the situation is.

If you search for the Green Signals podcast and then find the interview with Mark Allen the Chiltern CEO then you'll probably have much of what the authoritative public knowledge is. The Mk5s will be focussed on BMO MYB.

What's the incentive for it to be put into service with the original set 02?
I imagine very little incentive. I imagine there is even a cost that is more than just re-marshalling a set and mving coaches around the country.

The only incentive I can think of is if Chiltern taking on the lease of the whole fleet including the spare Driving Trailer 12802 means Chiltern want to be sure 12802 is in a usable state before becoming responsible for it going forwards.

Otherwise it is just to satisfy those who desire "correct" formations !.

Not even sure if it's been 'accepted' yet.
Not 100% sure on what it's had done, to make it worthy of acceptance.

But... yes. This!
It would make my OCD a lot better.

From the Chiltern application to run more London-Birmingham services thread

would it be premature to presume the Dec 26' TT uploads on RTT that have both standard and first showing are the ones earmarked for the Mk5's?

It would be quite accurate to presume such.
They are the only schedules that should have 1st available in the data ...

The Birmingham Moor Street departures at 09:45 and 10:15 on a weekday are the first and second for which super-off-peak tickets are valid as the restriction is arrival in London Marylebone after 11:30. Looking at Realtime Trains for Friday 17 July 2025, when there were no planned timetable changes, 7 (4+3) car and 5 (3+2) car 168 formations ran. Looking at Friday 15th January 2027 both show First & Standard class seating so potentially changed to Mk5 sets and hence reduced capacity, a potential issue on numerous posts in this thread. From experience albeit in summer not January both of these services can be 100% capacity if not standing from Leamington Spa then standing from Banbury onwards.

Not sure what time it'll be leaving Banbury but Chiltern 68019 is currently on top of 4O99 due to 66507 failing

Is there another issue with 4O99? Seems to have been sat not far beyind Tackley for about half an hour now (well, at least according to Traksy, anyway)
There's an infrastructure issue down that way.
Affecting both directions.
