I'd completely forgotten that plastic rear window louvres were a thing - were they purely for aesthetic reasons, or for some other purpose?

SIde sill decals too! That Capri has the same lettering font as was introduced onto the Mk1 Sierra.
The plastic louvres emulated what was on Ferraris etc of the 1970s and early '80s. I think the intent on high-performance cars, was to create downforce. I suspect its scientific effect on a Ford Capri / Talbot Horizon / Vauxhall Astra was rather less...

I also saw a B reg Capri yesterday, a white one in Carlisle. Looked smart, but not up to the standard of the one above.

Is a K suffix Range Rover feasible? Because someone's running one near me.
What a state it looked, half plastic I think, but interestingly, not so wierd/old that I didn't at first read the plate as maybe a K prefix, and kind of fitting for that era.
Whatever year K suffix was, I think they would have thought this thing was an alien spaceship.

Yes it's feasible. K-suffix was 1971-1972 and the Range Rover was first introduced in 1970. It's a remarkable survivor, you don't see many early ones around!

No pictures, but a rather shiny "proper American" Ford pickup that looked like it was probably from the 1950s or 60s joining the M5 from the M50 earlier. Immediately in front was another vehicle of a similar age and condition, but a "normal car"... with 4 people in it!

Two vintage visitors to Hayling Island, this afternoon: very splendid VW T2 facelift campervan on west beach (where else!) and Morris-badged Austin Minor van by east beach.
Superb! The 260z and 280z take me back to my youth. I can remember a few in that colour!

Saw an L reg Peugeot 405 estate briefly yesterday, amazing how dated it looked with the brown paint job not really helping, I remember 405s being bought as middle/senior Post Office managers cars in the late 80s and them having to let us oiks use them for customer visits, obviously we treated them with the greatest respect, the 405s that is.....

I don't think I've ever seen one on the road in the UK, but they were very popular as hire cars around the Med. Crete had loads of them.
A few weeks back I saw this Mini convertible in Mirfield. The Rover 75 next to it doesn't quite qualify but has clearly been well loved!

Still one of my all-time favourites. I've only seen three in the metal-flesh; most recent was 2 years ago - a local car-show in our town centre (Greggs-chomping, pushchair wielding folk barging past perilously close to the cherished and very valuable cars...)

A genuinely old one today - 1961 Morris Minor soft top. Sorry no photo as it overtook me
