This approach often makes sense when "unadvertised" ticket acceptance is in place and customers are informed at stations. Unfortunately it often becomes a case of it being in place and neither station staff nor the public are informed, which in a way is worse than doing nothing.

Glasgow > Euston is the second one, that originally got diverted down the TV route instead of its booked route via. Birmingham, presumably because it was already 90 mins late at Stafford. Can't imagine it's a lot of fun being on there at the moment.

I was on a TGV a few months ago which encountered 'vandalism' en route and presumably was no longer safe for use on the high speed lines. Thankfully we had stopped right before the junction off onto the high speed line and to Marseille St Charles terminus, and thankfully there is a depot right there, so we diverted into the station for the leading unit to be replaced. Water was handed out about 10 minutes after detraining and the whole thing only delayed us by just under 2 hours despite the heat (it is usually 25-30°C here in the summer). I was actually very impressed by SNCF's response here, they're not exactly known for amazing disruption handling. Yes, I appreciate the proximity of the depot helped but my point here is, stuff like giving out water is the bare minimum.
A lucky escape for me as I was at Wigan at 12;40 and when I saw the delays (and the it was a 9 coach) jumped on a Liverpool bound service for a London train from Liverpool.Oh crivens, didn't realise that!
I'm guessing they're keeping units running on one pantograph on stopping services, or at least the shorter services that are running. Peterborough to Horsham seems to have run well so far today, with no cancellations and only a few trains encountering any real delay. This despite the fact that it was listed on Thameslink's website that this route would have a reduced service.
What do you mean by 'bent pantograph issues'?
It sounded like it was affecting pantographs at different rates to me. So some units are stood down / on an AC restriction?
Thought that the other day they usual have two pans up when i was waiting for one at St Neots and had my suspicions aircon wouldn't be working in back half with no pan but it was! However, it seemed to be cycling on and off more which is maybe how they avoid overloading the auxiliary winding on the transformer thats only powered. Also explains why it lost a few minutes on the run down to Finsbury Pk but it wasn't exactly dawdling.

Forecast is 29 at Aberwysth and 30 at Machynlleth, which the 158's should be able to cope with but upon reading the full update it refers to air conditioning needing attention as the cause.
To put it simply, EMR's fleet is knackered and the heat just exacerbates this. The Class 158s and 170s do not like the heat - particularly so on any hilly routes where they overheat and engines start failing.

And Elizabeth Line is pretty much finished for the rest of the day. Abbey Wood can't handle all the trains to/from Shenfield before you start to consider complications arising from crew changes
Well, at least it will get rid of some of the Buddleia that Railtrack and Network Rail have allowed to grow unrestrained for the last twenty five years!
