1982 911 went past me this evening. But I have two problems with it.

Firstly, that shade of red should only sit on Italian cars, or 1980s vintage Fords that include the letters “X” and “R” in their name.

Second, although the reg plate is sufficiently old to be allowed to be silver on black, the car is 1982, and therefore my pedantic streak says NO!

En route to Henle Hall (near Gobowen) yesterday, big surprise at M5 services: a Turner Sports Mk 2.
The car was produced 1960 to 1963. Only c.150 built.
The manufacturer existed only from 1951 to 1966.

The overall package allows me to overlook such pendantic niggles. A very smart example and it would immediately catch my eye if it drove past me.

The shade of red doesn't bother me, but I'm completely in agreement about the silver-on-black plates.

Not a car but a specialist 4x4 vehicle for getting the Lyme Regis RIB lifeboat out of the water. Built by County Commercial Cars and first registered in 1977.

The trend for silver-on-black number plates on cars that wouldn't have had them when new, needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history. Maybe if it's a 1970s Mini or a late Moggy Minor you get a pass.

Over the weekend saw a Lancia Delta (probably the same one I saw a couple of weeks ago) and a 1987 Opel Manta in yellow. The top sighting though was a beautiful Fiesta mk2 in red, also from 1987. I only saw it from the front so couldn't tell if it was an XR2 or a 1400S that had been given the missing XR2 accoutrements. Looked in fantastic condition so I assume someone had put a lot of work into getting it that way or keeping it that way. It had a number plate ending in JX so had possibly spent all 39 years of its existence in the Huddersfield area.

Before buying my current car (dealership ex-demo), I went to view a similar one at an independent car trader.
The viewing was brief: the sales chap pulled the driver's door handle - which promptly fell off the car...

I think the last Dollys were on W-regs, so this is a late one.

There was this older style Bentley in Cheam on 13th June, which was an unexpected sight while photographing a vintage bus running day on routes 213 and 293.

Just been camping and yesterday the instantly recognisable sound of a VW aircooled engine was heard and a 1980 T3 turned up.

Was in great condition, but the reality of owning such a vehicle was demonstrated by the passenger doing a jig of happiness when it started this morning! There was then some drama as despite the ground being so dry and the grass in tussocks it was so underpowered when loaded it couldn't reverse of the uneven ground of the pitch and needed a push out.

Now for something a bit interesting spotted on a walk this morning, and only identified by the numberplate.
A 1968 Reliant Robin converted into a pickup truck!
The vehicle in question was away from the pavement so the picture isn't the best, but hey I bet it's pretty rare!

Followed a beautiful Triumph Vitesse down Culloden Road to Inshes Roundabout in Inverness this morning, aaa177G.
Was driving so couldn't get a photo.
Wondered if it might've been on tour and just about to set off on the NC500. Wouldn't that be great!
