Re the 195s. I was under the impression 195104 is damaged and out of service. But does anyone know what the situation is with 195115 and 195116 as neither of those appear to be in use.

I thought that 195 104 was back in service now
Not sure if the work on 195104 has started yet, if it has it's quite recent and you won't see it for some time. Went to Wolverton initially but is it now at Brodies??

C6 for the 150, I would guess C4 for the 158.

The 156 was just at Neville Hill for tyre turning as Heaton doesn't have a wheel lathe.

Class 195's and 331's don't have heavy exams like the older fleets do. They have the C4 and C6's integrated into their existing running maintenance, therefore stay at home depots and don't go to works.

Both require wheelset changes. The availability of Class 195 wheelsets is very sporadic. 115 isn't due to be released until October, whilst 116 might be out in August.

You will not see 195104 for a long time. Possibly 2028......

156 ex-tyre turning, correct. 158851 hit a big rock and needs repairs. 150114 was going for C4 overhaul.

There's some serious questions need asking as to why that has taken so long. It took almost four months to move it to a "works". That was two years ago. To say it could be another 18 months or more for what does not seem to be the most complicated repair ever undertaken, is frankly pathetic.

Thanks for the update, that's very helpful.
Will have to try and get up to Carlisle/Newcastle for the 156 units as they don't seem to leave those areas that much

The 156s have no real way to leave the North East with the Cumbrian Coast closed. The only way they'd rotate through to Barrow and then down to Preston/Manchester would be this way.

Have you ever repaired a train that's been involved in an incident like this? Once you start uncovering stuff it takes on a whole new level. CAF are not the most helpful of companies to work with and the lack of relevant information available is frankly shocking. To repair a train, first you need repair procedures, of which there are none.

It would never happen, but since they could probably get a new car/set built in less time, the gear must still exist

You can bet that CAF would charge a huge amount for a one-off unit, assuming they were actually interested in building it.

Interesting. 150124 not on the original list supplied from Northern as part of an FOI (not by me!)

Later 5Z51 has run but with units previously allocated removed. Anyone eyeball it en-route??

150124/5 are today working off NL so presume they were the 2 moved on 5Z51.
150215 is today working off NH, whilst 150269/73 are not in traffic, presumably being acclimatised at NH.

150125 was working in and out of Leeds today. Caught it at woodlesford going back to Leeds.
Much more surprising was 155341 on the 11.27 Leeds to Halifax service, didn't see it again though.
For anyone interested the ecs working from heaton to newton heath on Saturday afternoon was 156416.

A 155 is allocated to the 10:15 Hull to Halifax and return 12:15 Halifax to Hull where the unit then heads to Hull Botanic Gardens

Does anyone have a number of how many 150/2s have transferred to Newton Heath please?
At present 150201/05/06/10/11/14/15/18/20/28/68/69/71/73, (14 in total) have gone NL-NH, leaving (10) 150203/04/22/24/70/72/74-77 still to move. 150225 was always a NH set so in theory 25 150/2's will then be based at NH.
Going the other way from NH-NL so far have been 150105/14/15/21/22/24/25/27/31/34/35/45/50.(13 in total)
On the original list and still to go are 150103/07/09/10/20/29/30/42/44/46/48 (11 in total) but 124 has gone from NH-NL and wasn't on the original list so presume one of the others won't!

You have rather proved my point. As I think many of us suspected, the shambles that is CAF is to blame. I'll stand by my diagnosis of pathetic - with finger pointed firmly at CAF.

Performance of 195s so far, after less than 7 years in service, augurs badly for units intended to keep running for 30+ years. Hopefully after sales follow up will be a more critical part of future train orders. In the meantime Northern, Eversholt Rail and the DfT must surely be putting pressure on CAF to resolve the current issues.

Hopefully they already are but commercial and legal diplomacy probably limits what we can be allowed to know. A minefield of legal contract terms and conditions?

Do we know if the transfers planned for the 10/07 are going ahead (for 155345 and 156488). If so, where are they likely to return to.
Also, is 156449 still in service or is it out of use (potentially planned for refurb ?)

I believe 156449 is at Wolverton, if I remember right it was getting some work done at Heaton, but was so badly corroded they sent it to Wolverton instead
