And this has been the case since introduction of the VHF timetable way back in December 2008!
Indeed. So, is Crewe an example of a station where extremely few passenger trains don't call, if there's several, each and every day?

Before covid the 16:30 off Euston to Glasgow was first stop Preston, not stopping at Warrington BQ. At some point before 2020 I think they added the Warrington stop but now I think everything calls there.

Yes perhaps I should have some kind of additional clause to exclude "peak-time fasts". I was brought up in Helensburgh at a time when there was an 0810 Limited Stop train for Glasgow commuters with 9am starts and also the "Bowler Hat Express" at 0829 for those whose arrival time at work had a bit more leeway.
These were additional to the normal half-hourly service and no longer exist as the half-hourly service contains the demand.
My point is perhaps in the opposite direction - around where I grew up, in London commuter territory, there are lines where every train calls at every station. Lots of stations like that.

Hence my earlier query about there having to be a minimum of 1 non-stopper.

The Hertford Loop sees one or two non-stop trains in the early mornings, which are almost entirely diverts from the mainline ECML to allow engineering to take place with the exception of a Monday-only semifast, but other than that all trains stop at all stations post-COVID.

I'm sure there are other lines like this in London and its surrounding areas though I can't name any off the top of my head.

I agree, this question could only make sense like this.

Isn't there one SWT train a day that runs in passenger service over the Putney to Wimbledon line? Presumably that'll be the only passenger carrying train that doesn't call at Southfields etc.

Which service is that? Origin and time, and final destination?

That's what I was thinking of regarding the debunking of the 'fact' (myth may be a better word).
Didn't realise it was that long back, I confess that "recent years" was doing a bit of heavy lifting!
There's two XC services which don't stop at Stockport on Mon-Fri timetable.

1O68 Man Piccadilly - Bournemouth

1M88 Reading - Man Piccadilly

It was a late night Waterloo to Basingstoke, something like 2242 or 2312, but that may have changed since I last knew about it.

Here it is, the 2312

Thanks for clarifying. Is that along a section of line primarily used by London Underground (District Line) services? Could you add Wimbledon Park to Southfields as another "does not call" station?

Yes, it runs through East Putney as well, though not an open platform.

When I lived in Hull in the early 1970s, having spent a weekend in Bradford watching Park Avenue and visiting relatives, I was delighted to be directed on to a Hull KR supporters special at Bradford Exchange with my weekend return (I think it was the new station now Interchange). KR had been playing Northern at Odsal. The special ran non-stop through Leeds. I was delighted as Bradford had so few through services those days and you had to change at Leeds for almost everywhere except Manchester.

Colchester and Manningtree have almost all trains calling, but 2 trains run fast each day (plus a weird one that doesn't call at Manningtree on a Saturday).

Ipswich has had special trains that skipped during events, but normally everything is timetabled to stop.

Cambridge North has most trains stopping except XC.

Chelmsford has all trains call except 1tph of intercity services, which do call in the peaks. There's likely some more GEML stations like this.

Dalton I think has 1 train per week that does not call the 0905 Barrow to Lancaster train.

There is also Charlbury (and others between Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh). The only train not to call is the 0510 Oxford to Worcester Shrub Hill (I think Hanborough has a few others that don't call as well).

Monifieth and its neighbour Barry Links. The bulk of them thunder through, perhaps 2tpd at most?
The question's the opposite; which stations have the vast majority of trains passing through them calling there?

Montifieth has a broadly hourly service (SuX) these days. Barry Links has 3 t.p.d. (SuX). Neither is what the OP was looking for.

I don't think there are any services timetabled to miss Bromley South.

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

Not sure I'd agree that London Bridge meets the criteria since Thameslink will run non-stop through overnight.
There are at least two trains scheduled to non-stop Bromley South.
On Monday to Friday mornings the 04:45 Tonbridge to Charing Cross (1Y02) runs via Bromley South, Catford Bridge and Parks Bridge non-stop between Orpington and London Bridge.
On Tuesday & Wednesday mornings the 00:20 Cannon Street to Tunbridge Wells (1Y85) runs via Lewisham, Catford and Bromley South non-stop between London Bridge and Orpington.
On Thursday to Saturday mornings the 00:15 Charing Cross to Tunbridge Wells (1Y86) runs via Parks Bridge, Catford Bridge and Bromley South non-stop between London Bridge and Orpington.

I think Glasgow Queen Street (Low Level at least) strangely counts with one train a day now going in a big loop from the high level via Springburn and through the low level of the station again. I remember seeing this as a one off diversion but now it seems to have been made permanent, not sure why? 1Y24

I'm pretty sure there is a late night TfW service which doesn't call at Warrington due to the station being closed

There is also a late evening service which does the same. Seems there is also some ECS services running between Dumbarton & Springburn, makes me wonder if ScotRail have any unpublished plans to wire up the Maryhill line (at least they ran that service as a 3 car train today, I did it yesterday when it was a single 156 and it left Dumbarton very busy due to a coach party)

The North Clyde electrification will be approaching 70 years old in a couple of years and I suspect part of its impending renewal work will involve all WHL services running via Yoker, Queen Street LL and Springburn to Queen Street HL.

As has been pointed out upthread, Crewe has 2 non-stop in each direction pretty well every hour...
I don't know of any trains which don't stop at Chester, so I think that Stockport, with just the 2 XC trains which don't stop per day must win.

To be fair, I mentioned as much in post #60. Likely means that Crewe station doesn't really count for the purposes of this thread.
