My understanding is that while we are technically self-sufficient in meat and dairy we are not self-sufficient in the feeds which the animals consume?
Not even remotely, and we’re only about 85% self-sufficient in cereal crops for human consumption as well.

Noted that TPE are currently using a pair of 185’s on the Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Lime Street short workings. Given their complaints about rising fuels costs, was there no 802 available at all for this?

It would be interesting to know how much business the ticket offices at Dewsbury, Selby and Stalybridge do after the morning peak. I can see some of the ticket offices being moved to a single shift, say 6.00-lunchtime, as a lot of staffed ticket offices in the south east are.

Not exactly an ideal time for TPE to be trying to make economies, particularly on diesel costs, as timetables changing from week to week is going to make it hard to put a plan together. They probably have more 185s than they need with the reduced Manchester-Leeds service level.
As former Dewsbury ticket office staff, not much during the week, Saturday is busy up to around 1400, Sunday is dead

Doubt it as the 802s on Newcastle to Liverpool currently rewire an extra set due to diversions and that is their main use.

From what I understand plans are in place to short form 6 car services at quieter times to 3 cars to save on the diesel.
