Interesting...the Oldfield Rd turnback will consist of 2 East facing Sidings with capacity for 8 coaches and 6 coaches and will be electrified.Benefits will include reduced platform dwell time at Victoria for terminating trains and the inclusion of a Salford Central stop for westbound...
Contractors are currently setting up a site compound in the "V" between the Salford Central-Salford Crescent and the Salford Central- Eccles lines to allow 2 new sidings to be created between Salford Central and the Hope St aggregates depot.Presumably to allow trains terminating at Salford...
Cement....seems that there is a problem with the Centenary Bridge over the Ship Canal preventing the usual ships coming in from Ireland...until that is resolved the trains will probably continue to bring the cement in for distribution by road..usual load is 18 JGA's..4 trains have run so far.

The last freight ran 16.2.21 when 70801 headed the Oxwellmains-Weaste cement tanks..prior to that the previous freights were back in 2016 when there was a problem on the Ship Canal preventing the usual boats coming over from Ireland. These workings were from Northfleet...July 2016.A railtour...
The Arkonia is currently moored at Weaste(18/4) and boats seem to be arriving every 10 days or so.Although there is a weekly path from Oxwellmains overnight Thursday/Friday until December there is currently no return working shown on RTT?
..but from 1st April..assuming its not an April Fool...the Oxwellmains-Weaste is shown on RTT as a ThO running overnight and into Weaste 07.38 .This seems to be through to December although no return working is shown yet.
A light engine 66 has run on this turn several times recently.Travels over the Man Vic-walkden-wigan route..then return trip(s)from WNW to Man Vic before heading back to Peak Forest. There has been a similar turn from Arpley to Man Vic via WNW and Walkden..again a light engine 66.Looks to be...
RTT is showing a Peak Forest -Weaste aggregates path (19/5-22/5) loading to 1800 t although this hasn't run yet(as at 20/5).
There is no return path from Weaste, this would be first traffic on the branch for some time..possibly was last used in 2016.
Anybody throw any light ?
