    I was on that excursion. Great fun if a bit tiring. Shame they had to cut out the St.Albans Abbey branch. I read that it is to be turned into a tramway.

    Annoying unnecessary on-train announcements - a rant!

    My gripe is the `newspeak`language used these days. We no longer arrive `at` but `into` , for example. I`m sure some of the guards (or train managers!) love the sound of their own voices. On the other hand announcements are essential for the visually impaired. I was travelling from Cambridge to...

    Lewes to Ely Cathedrals Express 14/7/11

    Saw it at Gospel Oak just before noon,a minute or two early. A glorious site in all black livery, and surprisingly quite compared to Tangmere at Finsbury Park a few weeks ago! May try and catch it on return this evening. Am new here. Can I post a pic?
