To be quite clear, a driver using their phone in the cab breaches PED policy and is indefensible.
Something that is quite different is having an authorised second person in the cab. If I have a road learner, manager or colleague on an authorised front end turn with me then it’s natural we’ll...
Another Lincoln area change I’d missed is an additional Lincoln - Doncaster service from Lincoln at 1234 Mon-Sat. Increases the service to 6 trains per day and utilises a unit that otherwise sits idle at Lincoln for 2 hours.
I’m very pleased to see that EMR are introducing a two hourly Lincoln - Sleaford service on Sundays from December. This area of rural Lincolnshire has had no public transport connections to Lincoln on Sundays for a long time.
The test file on EMR 170s (to the best of my knowledge) is just Julie Berry saying “Please listen for announcements”. I feel slightly cheated that we don’t have a creepy kids song or Thomas the Tank Engine!
Ulceby and Barnetby are connected with no passenger services using the west side of the triangle at Brocklesby. Anyone wanting to make that journey has to change at Habrough.
Cost. A professional voice over will cost significantly more, both for their time and potential expenses incurred. I’d be willing to bet a staff member will be doing it in their paid time, maybe with some lunch thrown in.
Although it doesn’t impact the passenger experience these didn’t have their cabs as extensively painted either. The units from 504 onwards look much better.
It’s still the same as the original post, but I’d possibly suggest it would be better formatted as:
Lincoln - Cleethorpes
Doncaster - Lincoln - Peterborough
Lincoln - Nottingham inc Newark North Gate
Nottingham - Leicester
Cleethorpes - Barton on Humber
Traction remains 158 and 170 as well
It’s also worth noting the reduction of traffic from Immingham through Lincoln. Traffic is non-existant now bar a couple of oil trains to Humber refinery. If that line had also still been busy alongside the GNGE traffic I think an avoiding line would’ve been a good proposal, but without it I...
The Tenetecroft Street link road really has been a game changer. Rerouting the traffic via Pelham Bridge away from the High Street does genuinely seem to have helped traffic flow.
The footbridges have also made a difference, at least to those who can be bothered to use them. Some would of...
A reason I’ve been given is a concern drivers will then driver to adhere to what the TPWS is set at rather than focusing on ensuring they’re compliant with the PSR. Not sure I agree with this personally, and the set speed often becomes common knowledge after an incident anyway.
