I went Shrewsbury to Crewe on ATW then Crewe to Lime Street on a pendalino and finally a Merseyrail service to West Kirby.

I was very happy with £16 off peak day return Shrewsbury to West Kirby route any permitted. I don't know the mileage but I went via Crewe and Liverpool. Off peak day return Shrewsbury to Crewe is £13 so hell of a lot if extra mileage for three quid! I'm fairly sure it would be valid via...

Am I right in thinking there aren't any consequences in missing a train youhave a reserva tion on when using, for example an off peak return? I. E having a reservation doesn't turn your ticket into an advance.

Correct! So Euston ticket office, ask for three Oyster cards with £15 loaded on each total cost £60 then Sunday back to the ticket office to give them back and be returned with 3x£5 deposit and the remaining balance (£1.80 if I've calculated correctly). I've tried to look around the web but...
