    West Midlands Season Ticket Options

    Evening all, I have just started a new job which necessitates daily travel via train, the journey is Kidderminster to Birmingham Moor Street. In order to facilitate this I popped to a station, passport photo in hand and purchased a monthly ticket for £120. It's only been two days but the...

    Contactless declined

    Definitely not. Card held on reader, wait, red light. Different card held on reader (albeit same bank), wait, red light. Third card (different bank) held on reader, wait, green light, barrier opens. Not something I'd want to rely on judging by my first experience.

    Contactless declined

    My wife and I were in London last week for the day and rather than dig out our old, rarely used Oyster cards I decided to use contactless. First journey went fine but on the second my wife's card was declined, I passed one of my spare debit cards over the turnstyle (not the one I had used) and...

    D400 (50050) Fund Press Release of Sale of Loco to Boden Rail.

    Off topic but I have absolutely no idea how much a preserved diesel loco is worth, are we talking tens of thousands or is it normally into six figures?

    Chiltern's 68's

    Is there any info on when a 68 is likely to be at Kidderminster? I assume they'll be taking over the kiddy Marylebone route at some stage?

    Services which could realistically return to Loco Haulage

    I was thinking a similar thing; could a mk2/3/4 pattern coach be built with an underfloor diesel engine? Presumably it'd cost a similar amount to a new DMU coach but could be slotted into non powered rake in order to increase the acceleration of LHCS. Obviously the cost of adapting locos to be...

    West Kirby from Shrewsbury routeing

    Just as I thought then. Out of interest is it technically breaking the terms of your ticket to start and end your journey in Liverpool? I realise it'd be nearly impossible to prove but are you allowed to travel on that ticket for SHR->LIV->SHR?

    West Kirby from Shrewsbury routeing

    I've got to pop up to Liverpool next week to get my passport sorted, just been looking at the train fares and an off peak day return is £23.40. I travelled to West Kirby from Shrewsbury recently and the off peak day return was only £16.70 and as far as I can tell it is valid via Liverpool. Am...

    Good value, non-loophole tickets

    I went Shrewsbury to Crewe on ATW then Crewe to Lime Street on a pendalino and finally a Merseyrail service to West Kirby.

    Good value, non-loophole tickets

    I was very happy with £16 off peak day return Shrewsbury to West Kirby route any permitted. I don't know the mileage but I went via Crewe and Liverpool. Off peak day return Shrewsbury to Crewe is £13 so hell of a lot if extra mileage for three quid! I'm fairly sure it would be valid via...

    How to book seat reservations and routeing question

    Am I right in thinking there aren't any consequences in missing a train youhave a reserva tion on when using, for example an off peak return? I. E having a reservation doesn't turn your ticket into an advance.

    London->Feltham->Twickenham

    Photocard driving license ok? How about one proof of address for all three Oysters? edit: With regards to the Underground ticket office at Euston is this downstairs? I.E Go towards the underground from the station concourse.

    London->Feltham->Twickenham

    Correct! So Euston ticket office, ask for three Oyster cards with £15 loaded on each total cost £60 then Sunday back to the ticket office to give them back and be returned with 3x£5 deposit and the remaining balance (£1.80 if I've calculated correctly). I've tried to look around the web but...

    London->Feltham->Twickenham

    Ah right ok think I'm getting somewhere now! All very confusing isn't it! With regards to Oyster are there no forms to fill in etc... We'll be arriving into Euston 21:00 tonight (three of us) and would like to get to Feltham asap (obviously). If we can grab the Oyster cards in the same...
