To that point of not being able to cope with the routes they serve on, could the significant amount of wheel hunting experienced in these units have contributed to this issue? I can’t imagine an unnecessary amount of shaking from the bogies has helped here.
For me, I think a good livery feels like it actually flows with the architecture of the train. Else, it just looks like it's been cut and paste onto it with very little thought.
The first of those renders also appears to go back to the standard sliding door type of the other Class 800’s and not plug. Back to the age old tale of there only being so much detail you can take from a render...
Probably to some extent burnt a little bit by the issues that arose in the most recent section go-live so they have some things they need to rectify before they even consider putting dates on future section go lives.
Appreciate it was the first section the Metropolitan was activated in the last...
Anyone else using the Chiltern 165’s semi-frequently and end up with a pretty bad shudder when it sounds like the engine is at a lower power state: surely this can’t be right? Any sort of maintenance that could help resolve it?
I said I recall so thought that would clarify this was not of recent times. I could have been wrong but I’m sure at some point of the units at the very least, at minimum, had the seat back fascias refitted or, at most, seat cushions refitted also.
I pass the HEX liveried units every time I come back from weekends in Exeter and usually manage to catch glimpses inside of them. I recall seeing one which had seats refitted (alas, all still ironing boards) where most are still stripped back to the frame. All I can hope for is the TV’s and a...
I frequently take these trains as part of my commute. A part from the accessible toilet, new buttons, sounders and minor livery change is there much of note that is of interest?
Key differences at the point of delivery between 800’s & 802’s were:
- Uprated engines and power curve
- Larger fuel tanks
- Larger roof mounted resistor banks
- Seat upholstery
All but the resistor banks have or are being changed to be equivalent or close to. With the question of comparability...
My understanding and if memory serves correctly from the GWR thread is that it is (or was) due to the different train management software characteristics, namely I believe engine management software which means in most circumstances you are unable to run an 800 and 802 coupled in service...
The new signalling system was most recently fully rolled out up to Euston Square for H&C/Circle Lines and a portion of Met Line up to Euston Square also. It’s my understanding that the new system until fully rolled over, most sections act with the current legacy hardware (which is prone to...
Both of the previous franchises on these lines were operated by Stagecoach. The livery used their corporate branding and colour palettes heavily and was applied with some variation to signify which type of service the stock typically ran on:
Red base - Urban
Blue base - Suburban
White base -...
If people on here have access to Netflix I highly recommend you watch The Great Hack. It goes into depth of the entire process of a very sophisticated data driven campaign to spread dis-information to what they were able to identify as “impressionables” and follow it up with a TED talk from...
Hundreds of years even decades before the EU existed was a totally different time and is very much comparing apples to oranges. Like it or not, we are in a time of globalisation and co-operation with other countries is near enough required and I like to think enriches the people it involves in...
I voted Lib Dems once before and I think now is a time I gave them a second look I the hope they look like they have grown some cojones to end what literally feels like borderline dystopia.
