Flying Scotsman at Norwich in 1937

Thanks for all the info folks. The chap in question is sure it was 4472, but not 100% of the year I've now discovered. Also, it wasn't a trip he went on, just went in in it, it turns out. Oldman's info is interesting though - proving it was possible for 4472 to reach Norwich in the 1930s (and...

Flying Scotsman at Norwich in 1937

Hello all. The grandfather of a friend of my wife says he went on a trip (I don't where to, it might have only been 1/4 mile up the track or something) from Norwich behind the Flying Scotsman in 1937, and he'd like to know the exact date. I've done some searching and can't find any...

    Pretendolino to Greater Anglia ?

It's NC66. It will always stay together for various reasons, another GA set will be broken up to provide spares for the others. Will take about 6 weeks for mods to be done then it should be out in traffic.

Multiple Matters Weekend Mid Norfolk Railway 1st & 2nd November 14

I think this was a move of something from Crown Point that was to continue it's journey by road. MNR at Dereham have the facility to transfer rail vehicles from track to lorry.

Class 68 Progress, what's the latest?

This was a 47 move. 68004 came to Crown Point for fuel around 3pm today and then returned to Norwich station. It was still there at 8pm.

    Greater Anglia Liveries Discussion

90010 left Crown Point last night behind a 47 for the trip to Wymondham (http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/F45253/2014/05/16/advanced) then onto Deraham via the MNR (http://twitter.com/midnorfolkrly/status/467622823843086336) Overheating wheel bearing was the issue, may well be seized now.

How does the OHLE work on the Norwich swing bridge?

Although the original was double tracked... https://www.flickr.com/photos/hodgesprints/7178900178/ (not my image).

How does the OHLE work on the Norwich swing bridge?

If you mean Trowse then it's 40mph - but with a 30mph shortly afterwards and then soon after that a 25mph on the approach to Norwich station it's not reached by anything except perhaps the third pantograph on the daily visit of a 321 when it's leaving Norwich.

Little Black Box stuck to Class 170 window

No wi-fi on GA 170s. I believe it's a sensor for the air conditioning system - to measure sun light coming through the window?

    08s on the Mainline

Set failures usually. Every time a DVT stops talking to a 90 and they run the 90 round en-route the 08 comes out to the station to pick the set up. Or if a set fails in the station. Both of Crown Point's 08s also briefly visit the station twice when coaching stock needs turning as they go depot...
