What exactly does the role of controller entail ?
I've heard most recruitment for these positions are internal - how much experience with someone like northern would you require before being able to successfully apply for these positions ?
Interesting. Sounds a positive learning experience. Did it actually equip you well to do the job once you started ? Or did the 'real' learning start when the job started ? Do you enjoy it ?
Not sure or not but think they may have agreed 3.5% pay increase to the strike action. Anyone hear drive for them ? Be interested to hear if they are a good employer
Was there not a strike or talk of a strike with metrolink drivers because of pay & conditions ?
Seem to recall reading that they were targeting a strike on the day of a man united home game to have as big an impact as possible!
Does anyone have any idea what the rota is like ? 4/5 day week ? Sift patterns etc ?

So they occasionally check tickets but do not sell tickets on board ?
That's what I thought about practicing beforehand and the reason I enquired as to if anyone knew the level of tests if any that a trainman role would require, specifically with DRS
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate the information. So if I've got this right for a Train wo ( man ) role you would not anticipate the applicant being put through the same tests as for a trainee driver ?

Hi all,
Can anyone with the relevant experience/knowledge advise on the following;
Are the tests for roles like depot driver, train man, train manoeuvre's exactly the same as the trainee driver tests ?
ie the same 7 tests & then interview or do they do less tests ?
