Swanage Railway is running two trains: one steam hauled and one diesel hauled. Previously they have run both steam hauled in the peak season. I get the impression they are trying to reduce costs but not damage the experience / customer offer.
I haven’t seen one quite like that before.
I wonder if this is better and fairer way of laying out the options to the passenger enabling them to take a more informed view.
The problem I see is how to lay it out so that passengers don’t feel they have been compelled to take the out of court...
If the railcard has now expired, then surely this proves that the railcard in the app was valid at the time of the journey?
Have you quite clearly provided a timeline ie date railcard purchased, date of stop and date of card expiry?
I often think it would be highly informative for those who criticise bus operators to spend a week in the ops room and see what happens in day to day operations.
What seems so simple has so many points of potential failure.
There has to be compelling evidence for the CPS to proceed with a prosecution assuming that the Police investigate and find such evidence.
The reality is that the Police have to assess the circumstances of a complaint / matter being brought to their attention and take a view on whether it is...
I was not suggesting this as the primary solution or reversing the burden.
I was somewhat tongue in cheek
Pointing out that there was a technology a passenger could utilise if the provision made by the operator failed or was not available for some reason.
I accept I should have made this...
I maintain there is good demand linking major towns to London but the service has to be frequent, fast and have value for money fares. I think how customers value time has changed over the years and are no longer prepared to go around the houses even if the fare seems cheap. I think a good...
The south London stops on Gatwick services allowed fuel duty rebate or equivalent to be claimed. Historically there had also been a market for coach travel from south London to Brighton and other Sussex resorts. ( see MacLachlan History of grey green and its contemporaries vols 1 and 2...
But the op has told us that his employer has a uk office.
Bailiffs are very good at rooting people out eventually and the concern has to be that the bailiffs eventually find the uk employer which could cause issues.
Imho settling has got to be better than risking something coming back to bite...
You do not need a solicitor at this stage (if indeed at all).
However you should write to them at the address on the witness statement receipt stating that you wish to correct the contact details.
Give the correct details.
Do not state anything else.
Send it by “signed for delivery” so that...
Yes that is the narrative being advanced by Swanage Railway as a reason for the trial(s) not being continued.
There is of course an alternative narrative which provides greater insight:
1. The very considerable cost of insurance for operating on the mainline. (Cover level of £155M).
2. SRC did...
When I was a bus company Transport Manager we had good communications with the various Highways Departments and TfL who usually consulted with operators about proposed changes. We would ascertain the effect and issue notices to all drivers advising them of any actions required. Frequently I...
A well known industry participant once said to me that National Welsh was bedevilled by rampant dishonesty amongst driving staff. Whether this was true I do not know but certainly dishonesty was a problem with a National Express operator in the immediate post coach deregulation period.
