Boundary Zone versus point to point fare

Just as a side question, what's the reason Boundary Zone tickets are only ever issued as paper tickets?

Keygo on Southern journey history on android phone.

I have the same thing but as I've only just started using KeyGo I thought it was normal. The proper journey history is showing up on the website though, so it must be an app issue.

    Using eVouchers

I recently received an eVoucher from Southern in settlement of a Delay Repay claim. The eVoucher has appeared in my Southern account. Am I restricted to using it to book tickets from that account, or can I use the eVoucher number to book tickets elsewhere? I just tried to use it to make a...

Leicester - London Bridge Day Return

Many thanks, all. Some great ideas.

Chiltern planning to introduce seat reservations - Survey

Agreed - reservations just cause work for the train operator, and unnecessary friction between passengers. Southwestern operates quite long routes without reservations, so I don't see why Chiltern needs them. I suppose they could make seat reservations chargeable if not done via Passenger...

Leicester - London Bridge Day Return

That was my impression from the journey planners I tried, but just wanted to double check.

Leicester - London Bridge Day Return

Would London Thameslink be available as a destination for this journey, or should I book it to London Underground Zone 1? No further travel in the Oyster zones will be needed, just one return trip St Pancras - London Bridge.

    The 'Rip Off Britain' thread

A mention has to go to Gail's, or Gail's Bakery to give it its full name. It's basically just another coffee shop, although more expensive, and sells a few (even more expensive) loaves of sourdough etc. It's springing up in every upmarket suburb and market town and somehow seems to have become...

ITSO Enabled TVMs in the Oyster Area

This morning I noticed an ITSO enabled TVM at Epsom. I think it may be new, as I don't remember seeing it there before.

ITSO Enabled TVMs in the Oyster Area

Touching an ITSO card on an Oyster pad on TVMs produces the "Error reading Oystercard" message in my experience. These are the older TVMs found at most NR stations in the Oyster area.

ITSO Enabled TVMs in the Oyster Area

I assumed it would be something like that. In other words this is not reliable information. I am curious about Waterloo though - were there ever TVMs there which could load to smartcard? Or are there still some that I just haven't noticed? It's a big station after all.

Protocol for presenting split tickets for on-train inspection?

Usually I offer the ticket that seems appropriate for the time of inspection, but have the others visibly to hand in case there are any questions.

ITSO Enabled TVMs in the Oyster Area

There have been threads before about this where the consensus was that ITSO enabled TVMs are rare in the Oyster area, some exceptions being London St Pancras, London Marylebone and a few others. It seems this information is recorded in nationalrail.co.uk under "Stations". If you look up a...

Ticket inspectors and gateline staff sometimes not checking tickets properly or at all

I recently travelled to Reigate and about 12 people got off the train. I noticed the one exit barrier was immediately opened so no tickets were checked at all. This was in the middle of a weekday so, given Reigate is a commuter town, I imagine this happens quite a lot there.
