I was just casually browsing the forum and happened to find out about why the linespeed of the Portsmouth Direct line drops very briefly at Buriton Tunnel despite no significant change in curvature, something I'd been curious about for a while having driven the line a lot in Train Simulator (the...
The announcements on Desiros/diesels can get a little repetitive with the 'this is BTP'/'please treat our teams with kindness'/'to ensure fairness for all customers' announcements, but overall I don't mind those ones too much as they're not too long and they're not necessarily played after every...
Could they not have just redone the bit of the livery near the cab in such a way that the red didn't extend so much away from the cab though (as was the case on the 444s), and kept the red doors?
It's not that I disliked the orange 158/159 livery, quite the opposite, I actually really liked it...
Was there any reason why, back in South West Trains days, the 158s/159s had orange doors and the 444s had red doors rather than both having the same colour of doors, as both were white and meant to symbolise long distance as per SWT's colour-coding?

Also thank you all for your responses :)
Something I've been curious about for a while, why did the companies that built the networks into Paddington, Euston, Kings Cross, St Pancras, Liverpool Street (the routes that arrive into London from the north, east or west rather than the south) not build dense commuter networks like the LSWR...
What was the frequency of trains west of Salisbury on the West of England line like before 2009? I know that the current hourly Exeter service only became possible because of the installation of the Axminster loop then and that before that it was an irregular service, but what exactly was it...
It was for my initial applications, but in my later ones I said I would relocate (I've only heard back from one of them so far and was unsuccessful, I suppose there's still a chance with the other ones but I'm not feeling hopeful).
Anyway thank you both for your advice/input :)
I'm seeking a job with SWR (just an entry-level one for now) and have submitted 10 applications in the last couple of months. 8 of them have come back so far and none of them have been successful. I'm 21 and have GCSEs, A-Levels and an accounting qualification. I've never had a job before, but...
