    Aggregate trains through Boulogne

I did pass by on a train what I now know are the sidings for Conchil le Temple and they certainly didn't look active at the main line end. The Google Earth map of the site shows a shunter on a few wagons so this is probably the 2009 view you mention. I have since looked at the marble quarries...

    Aggregate trains through Boulogne

I would be interested to find out details of the above traffic such as materials carried and destinations. On a recent visit to the area I saw 3 trains in one day which I believe were heading to and from a facility south of Rang de Fliers. Two were headed by class 66's in EWS livery.

5x Class 153 conversion to bike and baggage vans for Scotrail

The Friends of the West Highland Line website is mentioning that the first 153 conversion should enter service in May. It also mentions that only Oban and Glasgow crews are being trained initially - does this mean these will not get to Fort William for the foreseeable future?

    Basingstoke - Alton remains

Thanks for all replies - is it still connected to the down sidings or is this just an isolated piece of track now?

    Basingstoke - Alton remains

Does anyone know why a stub of the Alton line survives just outside Basingstoke. I have seen a photo of disused track and buffer stops in a tree lined setting - is this still connected to the main line? Thanks

    Cornish Re-signalling

Many thanks - that link is comprehensive and most helpful. It looks like the traditional stuff will be around for a good while yet.

    Cornish Re-signalling

Could anyone please give an idea how long the remaining Cornish signal boxes will survive - and how far any re-signalling proposals have reached? Thanks.

    Cornish China Clay Traffic

Many thanks Mark, thinking about it, it is more like 30+ years since I was in the area so a big change in traffic levels! Is Goonbarrow now the only loading point left? Also, I guess that there is not much in the way of loco crews and traction based at St Blazey any more?

    Cornish China Clay Traffic

What is the state of china clay traffic these days please? I've not been to the county for about 20 years but a visit might be on the cards so it would be good to know where potential moves might be seen.

Proposed new TEP at Stromeferry on the Kyle Line

Sorry, my first reply above has the wrong quote shown - it is meant for adrock1976's post.

Proposed new TEP at Stromeferry on the Kyle Line

Engineering work is quoted as one of the benefits which would include work on the rock faces. Actually last autumn, due to the unacceptable delays to road traffic caused by the 40 odd minute section, temporary stop and distant boards were installed either side of the work with drivers given...

Proposed new TEP at Stromeferry on the Kyle Line

There are several TEP's over the Highlands used away from passing loops, one example being Fodderty on the Kyle line. This is used in the Up direction to allow trains to leave Garve towards Dingwall if something is approaching Dingwall from the Far North line - a bit like an outer home signal...
