To a certain extent clearly, but for a lot of people public transport is a distress purchase, they only use it if they have to. This doesn't include anyone on this forum, but it really is a thing.

Because London. Fundamentally there is no alternative to train travel into Central London, and the the volumes of people doing so dwarf everywhere else in the country. People quite happily drive into other city centres around the country. There's nothing more to it than that

It really isn't, the first GWML blockade isn't until 2029, there's no chance of it being functional before 2031. It's possible everything will be finished bar the actual tracks before then

Presumably TfL don't have any in-house architects/civil engineering any more so they have to use a consultant? Calling it a feasibility study when it's going to produce an actual design seems a bit inappropriate

It isn't, it's adding an extra pair of tracks between two points. Tunnelling is almost certainly going to be considered. Lots of the route looks extremely tight to fit more tracks on the surface, let alone the space to build them next to a working railway

Do you ever think that maybe being so judgemental might influence how people treat you?

If transport is a major driver of development, why is Newcastle, with it's metro network, not outperforming Bristol, with it's pitiful transport infrastructure? I would suggest the North-East's peripheral location is a much bigger factor than the quality or otherwise of it's transport network

Do you expect people in every industry to be enthusiasts about that industry? And if not why would rail be any different?

I just noticed a number of new pilings and masts between Slough and Langley, on the south side. Anyone know why anything would need to be changed around there?

Don't most (all?) stations have incredibly low platforms anyway? So the question is moot
