Yeah it's not too bad on reflection. 6 trains over the course of less than 2 and a half hours if you start at 17:11 for the XC, 17:19 for the Scotrail Via Shotts slow service, 17:42 for this new Scotrail, 18:25 for the North Berwick service, then 19:11 XC and 19:20ish for the only East Coast...
Is the timetable as featured on the XC site likely to include all the Scotrail services? There was never any promise of scotrail picking up any slack, but it was certainly hinted at a few times. However it doesn't appear to be the case based on that site.
The Edinburgh - Motherwell service in...
Think you're getting confused between the Euston train and the 06:01 XC from Glasow to Plymouth. The XC doesn't stop at Motherwell as it "goes straight on" to the Shotts line to Edinburgh rather than via Motherwell and Carstairs.
The early Euston service might have gone via Holytown, down to...
The XC trains don't always serve Motherwell - the first of the day from Glasgow for instance. I wonder if this will change for the better or indeed worse! As a Motherwell to Edinburgh commuter it is good to see the gaps have been filled by XC as had always been planned.
I do know the 17:11...
Travelling from Holytown to Edinburgh is £11.80 for an anytime return. From Motherwell to Edinburgh is £13.60. The stations, as the crow flies, are about 1.8 miles apart.
The route planner on the Scotrail site shows that travelling to Holytown via Motherwell is an acceptable route, but incurs...
You are right about the reasons why it was Bellshill, and why Cambuslang lost its stop on the "semi fast". I had contacted my local MSP about it who had got back in touch with some information from SPT, and how they really wanted uddingston, but network rail wouldn't allow it as Uddingston is on...
Been on a few XC (and previous Virgin) services from Edinburgh to Motherwell that went the Shotts way, but never an East Coast/NXEC/GNER one. End up at Platform 3 in Motherwell, and very confused. You get there quicker though!
Airdrie-Bathgate line, whether it gets full Glasgow-Edinburgh trains or not, is a good addition for linking up the two cities, but as I said earlier - linking the two cities has never been the problem - it's what's in between.
Connecting Airdrie and Bathgate allows people from North...
As another new member I'd just like to add my own thoughts. The problem has never been getting from Glasgow to Edinburgh, it's getting from the bits in between to Edinburgh/Glasgow.
The improved "semi fast" service is neither improved, nor "semi fast" most of the time. Although a welcome...
