Streethouse Level Crossing can be a long wait. For a train towards Wakefield the barriers come down to protect an overrun. The train stops at the station and then proceeds over the level crossing. Problem is that a train from Wakefield calls just after this so the barriers often remain down.
Just had a quick look at my local timetable
The 07:38 Castleford - Leeds (Mon-Fri) is missing.
Leeds to Castleford services are shown in 2 separate timetables. (Knottingley/Goole and Sheffield/Nottingham). Neither timetable mentions that alternative services are available in the other...
In the morning there is a 07:38 train starting at Castleford calling Woodlesford and Leeds only. This service is in addition to the half hourly Knottingley/Sheffield services. The Goole to Leeds train then calls at Castleford 0755.
In effect there are 2 more carriages going to Leeds each day...
No you can't double back via Dewsbury. I live in Mirfield and it's a pain having to get the Norwich service back from Liverpool and changing at Piccadilly.
Todays services are not calling at Brighouse, Mirfield and Pontefract. The 1022 from BDI appears to be starting at Halifax on time and taking reverse route to Bradford and then onto Wakefield Kirkgate. Anyone know what's going on?
