How does the ‘carriage occupancy’ display get its data? I asked a guard once and he thought it was based on weight.
Having done a trip yesterday where the first 4 carriages of a 10 coach train were showing ‘plenty of seats’ but actually standing room only, i’d like to know…..
thanks, Ian
I'm not sure why you think the quality of ATC is questionable but the ATC system involves visual separation, thus human error is a possibility if there's a misidentification involved e.g. 'pass behind the xxx on n miles final for runway 33'. Use of visual separation at night has been debatable...
Thanks, as a casual user, I wasn't aware that they could program the barriers to do that. Still seems a little odd to check for valid railcards once through the barrier and 'landside' but I guess it would at least put purchasers off fraudulent purchases!
Outbound and inbound from Winchester today my mobile ticket would not open the barrier. Outbound I was asked if I had my senior railcard with me - but it wasn't checked - and on return I had my railcard inspected after the staff member let me through manually.
I was told that any mobile ticket...
I do the trip every year (Fairford airshow); previously I’ve had to buy a separate ticket CFR to ROM and then I thought an Advance but maybe just Off Peak ticket from ROM to SWI. So I was surprised that I could get a decent through fare.
Hi, it was Friday. Guard scanned with his phone type thing began to walk off then turned round and began the ‘chat’.
It wasn’t really embarrassing as such, provided some entertainment for the other pax. More that I spend so much time telling my kids that they must travel on Booked advance...
Ticket was Chandlers Ford - Swindon via Melksham, return. I bought via Uber App, putting in 0755 from CFR. £30.50, but I used a Senior Railcard, so £20.15.
The guard on Chandlers Ford-Romsey leg was quite animated when he inspected my ticket, acting like he'd won the lottery. 'This is an...
After a rather chaotic experience yesterday AM Winchester-Waterloo my wife asked me too many questions that I can't, with basic knowledge of the rail system, answer, so...
...disruption yesterday due a failed train at Redbridge. We were on an Advance ticket so pitched up a little early. As...
Thanks for the guidance, I'm losing the will to live with VTT.
After Sunday's call I had a nice message advising that I should fill in an online form and I'd get a full refund as no admin fee is payable. Today, I received a refund, minus the £10 fee.
I've just called VTT again, who...
Thanks Watershed. No I did not travel and planned not to last Monday (16th), five days prior to date of outbound which is when I started trying to get this sorted.
Yes have pointed out to VTT the landslip in my email and twice on the phone. Last call - where they suggested I claim Delay Repay...
Ticket: Off Peak Day Return Winchester-Waterloo for 21-Jan, bought from Virgin Trains Ticketing in Dec-22
Several days ago, given the state of the track and advice that it wouldn't be fixed, I tried to get a refund as I didn't fancy an elongated journey (in particular the late night return lack...
Ah ok, thanks very much, I had no idea that was the case. My kids, who insist on booking through Trainline, couldn't find out how to claim delay repay through Trainline, now I know why.
Booked a trip today via LNER app (as get cashback) for a Southwestern journey which arrived 18min late. LNER app won't allow my delay repay claim as it's not >30minutes but SWR site shows delay repay applicable >15mins.
Has something changed in the delay repay parameters or are LNER wrong?
I'm not sure which information I should rely upon for planning how to get home from Waterloo to Winchester on 9-Feb (football).
The temporary timetable has the last train for Winchester at 2235, which I almost certainly won't make. Like another poster, whether pub, show or footy, the 2305 is...
