Most threads I've read on this forum regarding disputes over expired railcards have a "I gave my details and signed my name on a slip" somewhere, it's pretty difficult to obtain personal details from a railcard alone

Apologies, I'm not too familiar with the legal system around disclosure and barring service checks, I was under the impression that a conviction does not become spent at all. I wish it was common knowledge that short faring could result in a criminal record, I've noticed the buy you board...

Nope, now I'm worried again. Would there be any point at all going into any sort of career in finance with a conviction from Northern? What careers can I even go into with a conviction? Does this mean my life is actually ruined because of a train ticket?

I'm surprised to see it, at least if this goes to court it will have less of an impact on my career. I won't be applying for jobs in accounting for at least 4 or 5 years, I nearly changed all my UCAS choice preferences because I was worried it would ruin my chances with career.

Perhaps. But it was earlier mentioned in the thread that Northern could convict me under RoRA, which will limit my career options greatly as I graduate university.

Thought so. Though if I get convicted I'll be getting a criminal record anyway. Definitely never discussing legal issues with them again

My sister didn't even have ID. But she kept saying the details get checked so I kept telling her that I wasn't lying. She was acting doubtful because she was throwing out buzzwords like "liar" "crook" "fraudster" between prompting me for her age, it threw me off so much I said 11/1/1999 instead...
