    Disciplinary Measures?

Hi. No DAS definitely doesn’t replace route knowledge in any way. It will show a message on screen that you’re approaching a station but not a braking point. Can be useful in heavy fog but in my experience, it breaks a lot and can’t be relied upon.

Major disruption at Leeds - loss of signalling

Thanks. Lines have reopened so she’s going to see what’s going on with trains and see if Leeds or Manchester is best bet.

Major disruption at Leeds - loss of signalling

Thanks. I was wondering if she could maybe get to another station not too far away and try from there but I don’t know the area.

If you have a rostered Sunday then it works out as 7 days in a row on 4 day. If you’re on 5 day then you only get the one day off then it could be 7 or 8.

West Midlands Trains (inc. LNWR) - Trainee Driver - Recruitment Discussion

I found the dials the easiest. They explain everything really well on the day and there will be a few practice questions. The one you really need to understand the process of is the fault finding.

West Midlands Trains (inc. LNWR) - Trainee Driver - Recruitment Discussion

We didn’t have headphones when I did it. Don’t overthink it. They’ll probably tell you a story about a lift in a hotel. Ignore the story, just count the tones and write the amount down. When you do the phone book, again ignore the story about florists or whatever they tell you, just mark the...

    Advice requested on staying focused

I also have my diagram in front of me and check it at braking points for stations not always called at. At the station before one that could be missed, I check diagram again and then keep saying the station name in my head or out loud whilst I’m driving towards it.

Female Drivers - What's it REALLY like?

I’ve not had any bad experiences in the Messroom. Yes there’s swearing which doesn’t bother me and I do it myself. There is banter but I’ve never found anything offensive or would class as a personal attack. If I did, I would definitely raise the issue with the person/s concerned straight away...

Female Drivers - What's it REALLY like?

Hi. Our uniform is ok. Not the greatest fitting but wearable. I find the shoes hard on my feet but I have found a type that aren’t too bad. I’m TOC and never had an issue with toilets. I don’t think I’m treated differently by male colleagues and get on well with most. Feel free to contact me...

Unless something is changing in the new year, the hotel used is in Derby and all trainees for all depots lodge there for the duration of the driver course.
