Way back in the 1970s, the Birmingham to Euston via Northampton trains were usually shown as going to Hemel Hempstead. For Watford Junction and Euston, passengers were directed to the InterCity services. Won't happen now obviously as LNR and Avanti tickets are not interchangeable.
