Just to add - they've recently advertised for Qualified Drivers at Chester. Application's closed last week and sifting began immediately. I'm led to believe they're recruiting Qualified Drivers ASAP. Could be a little bit more of a wait for those at Chester.
I know a few at Derby and definitely one at Nottingham who would have applied (Notts of course dont sign 222s but they live over that way).
I read the application as they want people with:
- high-speed experience
- WCML knowledge
- possibly 222 knowledge is advantageous
I don't see there...
It's about the same distance - I think some will want the change of scenery but ultimately the mood and atmosphere at EMR is awful at the moment. Loads jumping ship to Northern, TPE and XC...
Abit of a late reply!
EMR Driver here! Quite a few Derby drivers live in Crewe and could be interested. I know of 1 who would definitely jump at the opportunity xD.
Yeah there's nothing in there about holding pay etc unless I take too much leave or don't work my notice.
To be honest, I'd happily sacrifice a month's wage if I got the opportunity to move on...
So for me the depot I was recruited for didn't open (might give away where I am at) and I had no alternative but to take the offer to go to Y depot. I'm having to pay for my house at home, and another house for when I'm working. Told X Company my circumstances and financial difficulties given...
It's uncommutable - I've had to lease a property nearby, which with the costs of things going up, isn't suitable any more - Tried the union route to no avail.
Thanks guys - I was originally meant to be based at X depot, and was told no you need to go to Y depot which is Z amount of miles away, and financially, mentally and physically isn't viable. I've requested a transfer to a closer depot on hardship terms which was ultimately rejected.
I...
Hello!
I've recently qualified as a Driver, and due to a number of circumstances I want to move on from my current employer.
I was wondering how long other drivers found they had to wait before moving elsewhere? I understand with being PQ some other TOC/FOCs won't touch you for a while, but...
From what I've heard. Yes and no. Apparently TPE are extending their Cleethorpes service from Manchester Airport to Liverpool, making the need for EMR to run it redundant. However you never know. Its 50/50..?
Definitely not English people first, of course you need the right to work in the UK but definitely not UK people before anyone else. I know plenty of people on the railway who are not native to the UK... My girlfriend is one!
Knowing someone in the industry counts for nothing if you can't pass...
Hey Train Driver 99! I can 100% assure you there's no discrimination in the recruitment process. It took me 7 attempts to become a Conductor, and I never understood why. At the time I was already working in the industry too. This was my 4th attempt at a drivers role and fortunately I was...
