PKP Intercity non reservation compulsory services

As a general rule the only non-EIP trains which are routinely marked as reservations compulsory are those operated by PESA Dart units due to alleged structural issues with the fleet (the restrictions have to be there because of an ongoing lawsuit). There are also some international trains where...

Thameslink core broken - 13th July 26 - what could be done to improve things?

I don't see how it's not intuitive. The issue is that this type of zoning is not used anywhere else so people are not used to it. It seems to work well in Switzerland and Germany (provided the train stops in the right position for the latter...). It could be made better - e.g. not showing the...

Thameslink core broken - 13th July 26 - what could be done to improve things?

It's very intuitive, example below. Unfortunately it is not accompanied by any automated announcements (not that you'd hear it because the platform staff prefer to shout over the PA). For some reason at St Pancras it only shows the carriage diagrams for 8 coach/RLU trains and not 12 coach/FLU...

[PL] Goods train derails, carriages plunge into river

Initial reports suggest that a maintenance crew reported a widening in the gauge at that location in the morning. "Track master" (sort of equivalent of a MOM) sent out to investigate, declares line safe with no issues identified. Train derails a few hours later. src...

Thameslink core broken - 13th July 26 - what could be done to improve things?

The LNER "promise" of accepting GTR passengers has completely vanished. When GTR issued a "do not travel" notice because of major disruption a few months ago, I asked both GTR and LNER to accept tickets between Stevenage and London - only to be told they won't because a) the Cambridge stoppers...

    Class 700s Being 'Refreshed"

The class 700's have a big external cleanliness issue in my experience. It's gotten so bad that on some units they have cleaned out a rectangle around the Thameslink logo so that it is still legible. The automated carriage wash machines also do not clean the recessed door area (although tbh they...

RegioJet and LeoExpress announces expansion into Poland (Open access)

RegioJet has applied for 98 paths on the Polish rail network for the December 2026 timetable, despite having ceased operations in Poland. 63 of these have already been rejected, some of these because "there was no confirmation of a path by Deutsche Bahn"... The 35 domestic paths yet to be...

    Arriva (Beds, Bucks, Herts)

There is at least one bus running around in Stevenage with dedicated SB1 branding, possibly related to Stagecoach's launch of the SB12 route next week which will be directly competing with SB1.

Great British Railways - First Train in New Livery

A number of 700’s are now running “debranded”, that is they are missing the diagonal stripes at the carriage ends. They are also very clean externally.

RegioJet and LeoExpress announces expansion into Poland (Open access)

... so why isn't Leo Express having anywhere near this many problems? RJ have also changed their mind and admitted their Prokocim catering depot was actually in use at the time of the Sanepid inspection. It also didn't have the required permits...

RegioJet and LeoExpress announces expansion into Poland (Open access)

RegioJet PL is currently under investigation by the state work inspectorate over alleged breaches of labour regulations. https://wyborcza.biz/biznes/7,177151,32738342,kulisy-pracy-w-regiojet-pracownicy-spali-w-wagonach-na-bocznicy.html There are also other serious allegations in this article...

RegioJet and LeoExpress announces expansion into Poland (Open access)

To be fair, RegioJet have shot themselves in both feet here. They did not help themselves when they tried to aggressively launch services despite knowing they did not have sufficient train crews to do this, and their public relations took a massive hit when they had to cancel trains en masse...
