I am external and trying to better understand the NR pay bands. From looking at recent job ads, I believe that band 4 is equivalent to "£42,971 – £48,342" and band 3 to "£32,740 – £36,832". [Aside: Does the "B" (i.e. band 3B or 4B) signify anything?]. Is anyone please able to confirm these...

Thank you - I see! Pick a valid journey but one in which the TOCs don't demand reservations. As luck would have it I was able to call into a local ticket office in the intervening hours. Although (nicely) bewildered by the request for the ticket - they happily sold me it - unlike their TVM...
