Apparently it was used until fairly recently to turn round snowploughs. They've got bi directional snow ploughs now so it is no longer needed. Useful as a trivia question. Highest underground turntable in Europe maybe? Maybe the highest turntable even?
That youtube channel has some...
Why not send a guard/obs through the train offering to sell tickets but not otherwise checking them, then follow up immediately each coach is finished with a revenue check? No excuses then.
Take 2 coaches out of each of the 707s and add them to some of the 8 coach 700s.
Then Southern could get rid of their 313s. I realise it isn't that simple!
I suspect that after this week numbers travelling will reduce in the run up to Christmas anyway so a few missing 456 from formations will present less of an issue. My comment wasn't so much of a dig, more of frustration that my "half the frequency" train is shorter as well? Now I know why...
There were an awful lot of 455+455 8 coach workings on Monday evening rush hour. It's almost like SWR are trying to make things worse than they need to be.
Hello. Is it valid if I buy an anytime return from Haywards Heath to BZ6 and combine it with a 1 Day anytime Travelcard? Reason is that it costs £51.10 for H/H to all zones peak 1 day Travelcard. Haywards Heath anytime return to BZ6 is £18.20 and anytime day Travelcard zones 1-6 is £18.60...
Any idea when the ETCS/ATO will be going live? My understanding is that the colour light signals will be showing flashing single yellows when ATO is active. Since every time I go that way I see normal colour light operation I guess it isn't in normal use yet.
Has been closed all week since some planned work over the holiday. Southern are being very coy as to the reason why...
UPDATE. It was reopened after 3 (extra) days.
Is 30mph max speed much of an issue in practice? Just the GX, the occasional ECS and freight goes through without stopping anyway. Normally fairly slowly. Same for Clapham Junction.
What difference would Thameslink core style mid platform signals make to Clapham Junction (P12 & P13) and East Croydon? Would it cause more problems than it would solve?
Likely it would be the company in the dock, rather than the guard, though.. By electing to do an extra visual check, the guard took on the responsibility to do it safely, himself.
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
