    SWR short fare

Always good to have a clean break, though not necessary, and in the very remote chance a prosecution was suggested, it's good for the OP to know there is a clock ticking and the threat is finite.

    SWR short fare

Looks like you've learned your lesson from this close call. Assuming you've now stopped short-faring, you should get a new credit/debit card. Get a new email for ticketing. Use a new online booking site; the forum's is excellent, and you'll be helping fund it for others. You'll then break...

SWR cracking down on Vauxhall - Waterloo doughnuts/short fares - Also GTR

Or "encourage the payment of" those missing fares. If people believe that they will be caught, they are more likely to pay.

TransPennine Express checking the appetite for charging for seat reservations?

Just had a survey in the email from TPE Asking first about how valuable seat reservations are to me, whether picking from a seating chart is useful, then it flips onto a pricing grid. How much would I be prepared to pay for a reservation? They may be thinking about upselling "choose your seat".

Should children be taught how to use public transport at school?

That was my point - they should be teaching their children. We should not be outsourcing parenting to educators.

Outcome from C5 Fare Dodgers at War with the Law

TICs are not subject to the six-month charging limit in the same way as the main summary offence, because they are not separate charges but voluntary admissions used at sentencing, and the court has discretion whether to take them into account. However, if I were an offender and faced with...

Outcome from C5 Fare Dodgers at War with the Law

I'm struggling with how the compensation came about, but here's my take on the figures. £40 is a Band A fine, with an Early Guilty Plea discount of 1/3 on a "benefits" income of £120 (50% less 1/3) There would be a Victim Surcharge of £16 and the court would probably allow costs of £84...

TfL Prosecution - Misuse of Friend's Student Oyster - Rejection Email Received

@udit You haven't answered the question "Did you receive a Single Justice Procedure Notice in the post" If yes - pay the fine and move on. Nothing else we can help with here. If no, and your income is less than £440 per week, you may want to submit a Statutory Declaration (SD) to the court...

    Greater Anglia Fraud Email/Letter

Not correct. Under S127 of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980, a Magistrates' Court cannot try a summary offence unless the information/charge is laid before the court within six months of the date the offence was allegedly committed. Both the Railway Byelaws and S5(3) of the Regulation of...

TfL Prosecution - Misuse of Friend's Student Oyster - Rejection Email Received

You mentioned a Single Justice Procedure Notice before. If you've not had one and have had nothing else from the court, you can apply to have the result overturned and the process restarted - given you're a student and on a limited income, this would reduce the fine and victim surcharge due...

TfL Prosecution - Misuse of Friend's Student Oyster - Rejection Email Received

Did you get any paperwork from the court before this notification? That looks like a fine based on a standard, assumed, income.

Agreed! Also add Harrow to the PI list - right by Kenton station.

    Budget hotels discussion

Plenty of PI bargains in the London suburbs to be had if you don't mind a small commute: Hayes, Uxbridge, Wembley (when no events on), Hanger Lane, Bromley, Croydon, Sutton, Slough. The Moxy at Slough can often be a bargain and is a very short hop from the station.
