Forget all the ideas about silica or rice. Its not water that's the problem. An electronic device will work perfectly in pure water. The problem is the contaminants in water, which get left behind when it dries...these create shorts across the pins on components.
You are missing the interpretation of "isn't worth" as meaning "worth less then"
For example, "First class isn't worth paying the extra for", suggesting you think that first class is worth less than charged, not more.

Update: Northern have provided a deadlock letter stating that
(i) there was a "do not travel" notice
(ii) I did not complete my journey by rail
both are spurious
The NRCoT do not include any reference to "Do not travel", the conditions link delay repay to the published timetable on the day...

I had not realised that the Ombudsman decision was not binding on me, and that I would still have potential to pursue through the small claims court.
